That is a gorgeous stadium. It's a damn shame they are about to be relegated. Wish the Big 12 could make room somehow.
Reduced to approximately 36,000 which is (was?) absolutely perfect for them.
They could just follow the Iowa payment plan and stiff their contractors.
Didn't know about the reduction in seating. Would have to think that capacity wise would probably put them pretty on par with the rest of the MWC.

They just finished in the top 10 nationally, but yet somehow are not allowed to play big boy football going forward. But hey, Rutgers, Vandy, Indiana, Maryland, Northwestern, get to be in the club.
Oregon State and Washington State both had a seat at the table when the leftover B12 schools came to the Pac12 with the idea of a merger and just like their now former business partners, they turned it down. I have a real hard time feeling bad for them like so many others seem to.
Idk about feeling bad for the respective institutions and the people who run them. But they have alums and fans, current and former student athletes, just like Iowa State does. They are who I feel bad for.
I for one would welcome the Origami State Fighting Paper Folders.
OSU and WSU may have been in favor of that merger but wouldn't have had the sway to push it through. From what we have seen play out, I assume USC and UCLA were opposed as they already had a foot out the door. And Stanford, Cal, Utah, and ASU were probably opposed due to their own snooty superiority complex. Basically the same drivers that ended up destroying the Pac probably also blocked a merger.
I watched a couple Oregon State home games this year and the environment was very impressive, reminded me more of the Big 12 than the PAC. The place was packed, it was rocking, and the team was feeding off of it.
43k was the old number. They were down to ~26k during renovations. Final post-renovation number is 35+, or 36 with SRO sales.
Had a similar feeling going there the night before our basketball game a few years ago. OSU really would be a cultural fit in the big 12 (and a fun trip, just an hour down from PDX), they just don't have the monetary value.
Man, I really do feel for them. This would be like ISU going to the Big East right after we finished the SEZ. I saw an article that showed the current PAC 12 total payout per school is $37M per year. The payout per school for the Mountain West?.......$4M. Just would make you sick if you were an admin or fan of that school.
Looks like they at least had enough forethought to install these giant matches that can be used to burn it down for the insurance money.
