Official Utah Utes Welcome Thread

I remember the last time Utah came to Ames. Around 2012 or 3013. They kicked our butts. ISU started quick and took the lead and then collapsed. I think Utah had at least one kick return for a score.
We were actually ahead after the first quarter. If ever there was a game deserving of the Anchorman "That escalated quickly" meme, that was it.

2010 and yes they did. The only reason I remember this is this game was the first game I went to live.

I have not read through all the ASU realignment posts so it has likely been stated. But, I am surprised that Prez Crow was so opposed to joining the Big 12 and it's supposely diminished academic standing when he is, in fact, an Iowa State graduate.

I don't really care either way but am not familiar--what is the dislike for Utah and what does the OP meme mean?

I've never really paid attention to them other than in 2021 they were a fun random team to watch; they played like I kept waiting for ISU to play that season.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Utah at all. But I take it that a lot of their fans must be insinuating that they are too good for the Big 12. Can't imagine any other reason for the disdain. In general I would think we would welcome all new conference members. The 16 teams should give us more strength and security going forward.

Per Utah they are stuck in the garbage heap big 12 because their big ten invite got lost in the mail. They’ll slum it for 2-3 years until it comes. Utah is much more like Beverly Hills or Silicon Valley than Kansas or Iowa culturally so they won’t feel like a fit.

It’s been nothing but that.

I saw several posts today asking if Houston, BYU, Cincy and UCF could be kicked out to make them more comfy.

You've missed several of us describing what a narcissistic prick he is. He'd rather not be reminded he came from such an average place. He's exceptional, after all.

Even despite the underwhelming offer, at least several ADs went to bed Thursday believing they had a deal. Though Arizona and Utah had already applied for Big 12 membership, an Arizona board of regents meeting Thursday night ended with ASU president Michael Crow still unwilling to leave, and he and Arizona president Robert Robbins had pledged for their schools to remain together. If they stayed, Utah would, too.

Turns out Utah had actually applied with Arizona.
