Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

The Big 12 needs to push for Oregon and Washington, they're the best brands available and there's no guarantee the B1G is going to offer them more money for a tougher path to the playoff. Media buyers can get them into a P3 slot much cheaper over time than putting them in the B1G, so they should be more willing to step up.

Way too many people in here content with being a distant third place in the football arms race.

UO, UW, and UA is the correct play.

It’s not about the correct play or the best play. It’s only about the most correct and most best play that you can make.

They will be out of options. I don’t even think the four Pac-12 leftovers will have the juice to pick and choose their additions. They can’t pay exit fees for other schools and they have no TV deal.

Assuming OR/WA to the B1G and the Four Corners to the B12… The most likely outcome, I think, is a “merger” in name only of the four leftovers with the Mountain West. That merged league would take on the Pac-12 name and branding and the MWC would officially dissolve. Basically the four leftovers would sell the Pac’s cache to the MWC in order to get them to come over and keep the Pac-12 (Pac-16?) alive in name only.

The alternative is giving up athletics entirely. I don’t think even Cal or Stanford will pull a UChicago and do that.
They wouldn't have to get out altogether but they can deeply de-emphasize. I think they may look around and decide that the Big West or some kind of Ivy affiliation is the way to go.

I just can't see them co-existing with Boise and Utah State and Colorado State and Wyoming. It's beneath them in their eyes.

You're dead on the that the new hybrid will keep the PAC name.

Seems to me, if they actually thought they could do something to get out of the ACC, they'd be doing those things, instead of making loud threats. Puffing out their chest like this feels performative, and not much else.
Yeah the FSU/ACC doesn't seem like there is much substance there. No reason ESPN would want to let the ACC out of that deal with how cheap it is and we know it's the networks that run this stuff

Stand by as Iowans and Iowa media make fools of themselves with stupid and unnecessary desperate ploys for attention?

“Pasadena better stock up on Busch Light!”

“We’re renaming the Rose Bowl the Corn Bowl for one year!”
Too true.

Push? FOX is calling the shots here. They determine if ORWA goes to the B1G or B12 having stake in both conferences and essentially destroying the PACX by not offering a deal.

I think the conventional wisdom here is a bit off. There's more to the calculus from both the B1G's perspective and UO/UW's than people would maybe think about up front. As long as there's a means of getting them without giving special status over the rest of the teams in the league, BY should do whatever it takes to make that happen.

If you just demand Oregon and Washington hard enough, it will happen. Otherwise you’re just content with third place smh.

Just like Frasier Crane paying more than they need to. AZ is Marty Crane and I mean that in a good way.

High 8 figures to replace signs? How much did they pay to put them up in the first place?

Those PAC 12 signs are collector items now. Sell them. Or stay in the PAC 12. No problem.

Well, those 4, plus the 11 in the MWC, plus Hawaii for FB only... gives you a 16 team conference for football.

That's assuming that Stanford doesn't go independent and Cal doesn't just resign to "spend more time with family".

I still see the possibility of Stanford and Cal saying to hell with it and join the Iveys academically they are there, but no idea if anyone wants that.

Best basketball conference in America goes for an expanded international presence. Foreign basketball players come to America to play for our Universities. Our college players play in their foreign leagues. International branding. More money. BY knows how to grow revenue. That is why he is so bullish on Big 12 basketball. Best basketball conference in America will not disappear.
And who cares what they think. It's our conference, ergo it's the best conference. Duh!

Hate to burst your bubble, but you think a conference with the leftovers from the P12, B12, ACC and some G5 schools is sitting at the same table with what the SEC and B10 would look like at that point? This is pretty obviously a 2 conference race.

Swap the PAC and the XII in this scenario and no one would be saying that the PAC is pushing us all to a P2. Throw another one on the pile for backhanded comments about us.

fun fact: until 2011 Pizza Hutt was the largest buyer of kale in the country. They used it to decorate their buffets. Then we decided to eat it:rolleyes:

Iceberg lettuce is nothing special, but I like romaine.
hate romaine, known mainly for being in a caesar salad. one of most overrated dishes and largely part to the lettuce gets soggy and is terrible. never understood it never will.

give me fresh crisp iceburg lettuce. the rest are all bitter. ppl lying saying they actually like any of it. no you like the dressing you put on it.
