One other difference between the California situation and what might be happening in Arizona is that UCLA agreed to leave without consulting the overseeing board and had to go back to get their approval to make it official (which is when the payment to Cal got added). If Arizona and ASU are strongly split on what they want to do and both feel like they are taking the best course of action it’s harder to imagine the Arizona Board of Regents stopping one or making them make a payment to the other because they are opening choosing to take a bad deal.
Agreed. Cal had no options when UCLA left. ASU probably has options or at least had options, so it’s hard for them to come back and play the victim if the PAC falls apart.
