Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

There are reports that the B12 TV networks prefer 14, unless it's UO and UW to make 16.

With the reports that the 3 remaining corner schools want to stay together, do you think the TV networks can be convinced to go to 16 with all 3?

If the choice is all 3 or UConn only, got to think they go all 3.

Maybe there's a discussion of a reduced payout for those 3?
You think Utah says the AZ schools have to come also if offered, no way. I think at the end of the day UA will say good luck and jump on their own.

10% of US does not currently subscribe to AppleTV+

This data, while from 2022, states the global AppleTV+ audience is 25 million paid subscribers and 50 million subscribers via promotions (1 year AppleTV+ free with new iPhone for example).

This second article from April 2023 says AppleTV+ subscribers make up 6% of the streaming market share, not total US population.

Az won’t go without their neighbors. Wash/ORGie want higher status. Cali folks are high minded. That leaves OSU WSU and UConn to fill the last spot. Why not WSU instead of UConn?
UConn is a basketball blue blood. Basketball is currently worth 20-25% of media dollars. Considering Big 10 per team media dollars, especially with all the worthless crap in that league, it’s easy to see that football blue bloods like OSU and Michigan are worth well north of $100 or $120m, probably more.

I’m not sure UConn is a tv product like a bball blue blood should be, but if Yormark sees more growth in bb vs football, and sees UConn as a true blue blood, then they are worth $30m plus. I don’t see how you make a case to bring in the lowest value teams in a league that has good brands like Oregon, Washington and Utah but has a lower media value.

I don’t know if that conclusion is correct but I think that would be the rationale.

Nah, I think the talk of one more was just a Yormark play to put pressure on the schools to jump. Pretty sure ASU and Utah would get full shares.
Agree the 1 team talk was a pressure tactic. Disagree about the M3.

I think for FOX to pay full and maintain the per team number up to 16, at least one of UW/UO has to be included. You just arent adding good enough brands to take limited timeslots and pay for it. And if the per team number goes down with Utah and ASU, you could have them take a resuced share - wouldnt be half, it could be like 25m with minimal impact to the other 14.

I also think that when push comes to shove, the M3 "package deal" will crater.
If by some miracle it doesnt, then the PAC will exist as a poverty P5 and UConn will be the luckiest sumbitch in realignment since Rutgers.

Small correction to his X. That would be 10% of US people. There are only 131 million households in the US.
Yeah I saw that later in the thread lol that's insane that that's the number... What the hell was GK's pitch and honestly how did the others not walk out once he tried selling that ******** to them?

I think while the big XII is unified, they are not willing to be told what to do. Letting a group say all or none is best to go with none and let them know they don’t have any pull and aren’t more important than the others.

Because there are only 3 teams with options right now. Oregon/Washington/Arizona could leave. The other 6, this is their only option apparently

The second the Big XII starts making concessions to schools to get them in, or creates an unequal playing field via something like unequal revenue sharing, is when the Big XII starts down the road that leads them to be in a position like they just worked themselves out of.

That's why I think you take Arizona, and then wait. With the threat of holding at 14, you put yourself in a stronger bargaining position for the rest of the PAC 12 programs that are scrambling for the life boats, including Washington and Oregon. With those two, it may be a matter of saying that we'll take you with a full share, but our GOR is going to be significant.
