Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Then how about this source. Pretty similar numbers and story

Thats what MhVer does, he gets the info out there, and puts his spin on it just to make it seem like he has the inside source.

Never said it wasnt plausible that this is at least partially correct. But he does this all the time. He was talking about deals like this a year ago, that appear to be complete fabrications at this point. He is just like the Swaim dude that says oh this is going to happen, then this the next week etc. Then some day he will go back and say see 6 months ago I told you, that this was the deal.

Had to go back several pages to figure out how “conference realignment” and “press box” correlated with each other. And once I found the source of “press box” on this thread, it left me just as confused how they still relate to each other. /s

Basically, some reporter pulled a Randy Peterson and complained about how the media doesn’t have luxury seating at Jack Trice. So naturally, that means the stadium is crap.

Villanova, Kentucky, Kansas State, Arizona, Nothwestern. Too many wildcats. If this about branding, why stick with a generic, vanilla, politically correct name? Make AZ and KSU flip a coin to see who changes their team name. Arizona Scorpions vs TCU Horned Frogs. KSU Bulls vs Colorado Buffalos.

What does the press box have to do with conference realignment?

As with most mega threads, the topic quickly details at some point. Hopefully the thread will get back to what’s it’s supposed to be about. Just my two cents for what it’s worth (which isn’t much!)

Tangents will be made while we wait for new information. But once that new information is available, the thread will come home.

What does your crying about people discussing the press box have to do with this thread?

90% of every page is still realignment related.

People crying about staying on topic are just as bad as people that cry about how small our press box is.

We’re going to be 4/14 or 4/16 wildcats and cougars soon. Just think if we still had Tigers.

money and power ruin everything.
I understand the sentiment…but does it? There have been some upsides:

For the fan (just being selfish, and speaking specifically for me) the new tv deals are awesome. When I was a kid in the 80’s, the only time Iowa State was on tv was for our annual beatings by iowa and Nebraska. The last few seasons, we’re on almost every week- which is awesome for me because living in Texas, I’m lucky to make it to two or three Cyclone games a year, given my kids’ busy Fall sports schedules.

This is also great for our school- the money has given us amazing facilities and we’re a much better team than we were and you have to wonder if putting us on a somewhat-level playing field with money hasn’t helped our program a little bit.

The nice thing about all this money flying around is now, with NIL, our athletes get a piece of the pie too (instead of just OU and Nebraska paying players)…so holler at @brentblum and join WeWill.

Again- I get where you’re coming from, but I think the athletes, our school, and our fans have all won in this deal.

That's actually the opposite of "the athletes getting a piece of the pie". That's schools keeping the whole pie while simultaneously guilting fans into forking out even more money.

I understand the semantics, so yes, technically, they’re not getting paid from THAT pool of money. However, my larger point is that now, athletes are able to get paid too- something that’s part of this new CF landscape. I think that’s a good thing.

For me personally, I am much happier to give money to the athletes out there doing the work than I am a state-funded institution, that receives ba-zillions in grants and with over a $1B endowment. I’m all for people giving to the school- but if I had $50 and had to send it to a giant institution or a broke college kid working his butt off- I’m messaging @brentblum and sending that $50 to the college kid.
