Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I don't think it's likely for Nebby to turn its back on an extra $30-$50 million/year, but even if it did happen, I'm pretty sure the B1G would see it as addition by subtraction.

And someone would take their spot before you could even finish the question "would you like to join the Big 10?"

I was liking the Oregon and Washington to Big 12 potential. I really don't want to settle with Connecticut.
Also, as a CBB fan, I would enjoy watching UConn playing teams in the Big East. UConn has quite a few natural rivals in the Big East and none from the Big 12. I am not a fan of settling for UConn. The conference shouldn't need to settle for anyone

That's 100% just putting Arizona on the clock. If UW and OU are knocking on the door they don't even think twice about taking them in.
100%.

They know they'll take Oregon and Washington. It's just up to Arizona to say yes in a timely manner before it's offered to UConn who will say yes immediately.

This leak is the sign that the Big 12 is a 'no' on Arizona State and Utah.

this is a little hard to believe. i would think ESPN would be jumping at the chance to add Oregon and Washington and the pro-rata rate which seems like a discount.

This is my thinking too. Arizona is fine. But Oregon and Washington, why wouldn't you?

Agree with this. I think the best way to catch OU/WA is to force implosion. One more (AZ) PAC school and that’s the killing blow, then the “stretch-goals (OU/WA)” start to not look anywhere near as stretchy.

Oregon for another $31.7 mil would be a ******* steal for a network.

I tend to agree with you. They wouldn't want all 4 corners but would probably make it work for OR/WA.
A steal compared to paying out a full Big 10 share. I think in the short term the media companies are trying to get through paying out these new deals and hoping they are worth it in 5 years.

This means we are screwed and will stay with the rest and hope for the best.
I know people on here have said, "Don't feel bad for OSU and Wazzu." I get it, but I can't help it. We've been through this. I'll never forget that video message from JP and Wintersteen after the OUT announcement, it literally made me sick to my stomach. No college sports fan should have to feel that.

I know a handful of OSU fans personally. Great people, seems like an awesome college town. Seems like kindred spirits to ISU for sure. Very similar vibe and culture. Feels like losing something that helps make college football, college football.

If you want to categorize an entire fanbase, team, university, and town by a few loudmouths online, that's your prerogative I guess.

100%, the 2011 game where we beat them and cost them the national title shot was the best game I've ever seen at JTS....however a small part of me felt sick to my stomach for their fans because they seem similar to us (though a bit more success). As we were leaving, their fans congratulated us and I just said back to them "Wish it was against OU or UT"

I mean if you are Arizona how the hell do you even hesitate? Short term without CU yeah the PAC may be somewhat salvageable but again the money won't even sniff what the Big 12 has. Long term you know the PAC is done, they have no leverage left.

Another thought on this. I wonder if the target for one more is because a lot of work went in to adding ASU and Utah, but they ultimately turned down the idea. So Arizona has a done a lot of the due diligence already. So with potentially Oregon and Washing maybe in play, does the due diligence process need to begin with them before they jump on board?

Well this takes the wind out of the sales a little bit. Don't make the same mistake the PAC did a couple of years ago. If you have an opportunity for the kill shot and can get UW, O, and UA then take it. It is true that losing only Colorado doesn't hurt PAC that bad and situations can change drastically by next round of realignment. If we only end up with UCONN and Colorado out of this it will be a huge missed opportunity.
