I've always said that Nebraska is the safety pin holding the Big Ten together...As much as I hate Nebby, I can see Yormark giving them a call and Nebby thinks about it. If THAT happens, Big 10 starts to be a little shaky.

Diminished but with Oregon/Wash? Yes, without those two? I wouldn't count on it, at least not confidently. Add in whatever their buyouts are and the benefits get thin quickA diminished PAC 12 is probably still better than what ever conference those other schools are in. At least in a diminished PAC 12, there is the possibility they may still get a seat at the big boy table, which they don't get in their current conference. Additionally, they would have an opportunity to at least prove they can play at this level and maybe prove that they deserve a better media deal than what ever G5 conference they are currently in.
Yeah, it may not stick, but at least they get to have these benefits for a while with a chance at maintaining them.
I don't want this to happen because it means ISU isn't at the top, but those teams competing at the top of the Big 12 and either of them (likely Oregon) making the playoff may deter them from going to the Big 10 where they'll just be another team. Oregon can be "the team" in the 3rd best conference or they can be 4th-5th team in the 2nd best conference. But I guess at the end of the day that logic gets thrown out the window due to $$.Even if Oregon and Washington leave for the Big Ten at the next renewal, they add great value to the league while they're here. It's about making money and you might as well make the money now even if it isn't permanent.

You ain't wrong. It all hinges on Nebraska.I've always said that Nebraska is the safety pin holding the Big Ten together...
Right, but who has both enough money and a financial interest in putting that money towards a buyout? But they can break the GOR, they just have to pay.
Like we would have been able to outvote OU or TX before they jilted us?A 2/3rds majority wasn’t enough?
Right now the Nebby brand is taking a hit and there is a small segment of Nebby fans getting restless. Nebby’s jump to the Big 10 came with a big price and now they have to deal with UCLA and USC. I doubt they do it now, but I can see in five or 10 years, IF Yormark can somehow close the gap a little. Why would they think about it? There is no way they'll leave the Big 10. Heck, if the Big 10 called ISU today and asked them to join (which will never happen), ISU would say yes instantly and many of our fans would support it.

Nebraska is a raindrop on the B1G Ocean, but the money is too good for them to even think about leaving. As much as I hate Nebby, I can see Yormark giving them a call and Nebby thinks about it. If THAT happens, Big 10 starts to be a little shaky.
He is on the top sports radio station here in DFW. He’s a Sooners fan but his sources are generally reliablehe has 180k followers. doesnt seem like a hack.
i am still doubtful on both oregon and washington, but i am not sure what choice they have.
I have no idea who this guy is, but I do see that Jay Jordan follows him:
Seriously…. NO ONE IS LEAVING THE B1G. NO ONE.Right now the Nebby brand is taking a hit and there is a small segment of Nebby fans getting restless. They’re not leaving the Big 10. 0% chance that happens.
$100 million reasons Nebraska would say "Go **** yourselves Big12" to that inquiry. As much as I hate Nebby, I can see Yormark giving them a call and Nebby thinks about it. If THAT happens, Big 10 starts to be a little shaky.
I don't think it's likely for Nebby to turn its back on an extra $30-$50 million/year, but even if it did happen, I'm pretty sure the B1G would see it as addition by subtraction.Right now the Nebby brand is taking a hit and there is a small segment of Nebby fans getting restless. Yeah I agree the Big 12 is going to be behind both of those conference but at this moment it seems like the Big 12's value is skyrocketing. Again, not to the levels of the Big 10 and SEC, but to a level where it's not going to be as astronomically behind the other two as once thought.I do feel like we are getting closer to the money smoothing out though. If the Pac 12 crumbles the ACC will be on deck. Not all of that money can go to the SEC and B1G. The networks will need the Big 12 too. I'm not saying we will be making the same money as those two but the gap won't be nearly as wide as most think. The networks can't afford it to be.
