so about this...

they cant really do this without a baseline of a signed media deal and GOR. and they are now completely going back to the square one with their media deal if they are changing the teams involved. the same media deal they have been working on for over a year.

i just dont see either the current schools being willing to reset these negotiations or prospective schools wanting to sign on to this uncertainty.

Yes, but it turns everything into a de facto leap of faith... which I'd imagine is something collections of institution do not like, or probably not even equipped to do.

Particularly in the wild landscape of realignment.

If you think that is a sign of mass grass roots support for their athletics from faculty, students, & alumni instead of meaning they have some wealthy alumni who like athletics, I don't know what to tell you.

$36 mil doesn't get you much in CA compared to IA. When I lived there the cost to renovate Cal's stadium was off the charts ... and that was 20 years ago.

I think WAOR would be considered a surprise since the B12 narrative has always been focused on the four corners with the assumption that WAOR was B1G bound.

Uconn is NOT a "fringe blueblood."
That is the midwestern bias/perspective coming in, which is why we need Uconn and the NE market.

Uconn has won more national titles since 1999 (5) than Kansas, KY, Duke, and UNC.

Calling Uconn a fringe blueblood is akin to calling Bama a fringe blueblood in football.

Everyone keeps bringing up Rutgers/B1G as a reason for adding UConn to the Big XII. The thing is I don’t think there’s a bigger case of buyer’s remorse anywhere in realignment than the Big 10 has with Rutgers. All I ever hear up here in Michigan is how Rutgers doesn’t fit culturally or competitively, and how it didn’t add the NYC market the way everyone thought it would (stunner). All i ever hear about up here is if the Big 10 could undo one decision it would be Rutgers.

I will never understand this boner for adding UConn. Yeah, they’re good at basketball - and yet it’s football that matters and nobody gives 2 ***** about UConn football. Plus UConn decreases every school’s take, whereas PAC 12 schools don’t.

UConn is a BY thing. I think that he sees future growth in basketball while football will remain a bit stagnant. It fits well if he's trying to grow internationally as bball is more popular internationally. I guess I'm not sure if it's more popular in Mexico.
