Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

It's not that, but I bet it's a precursor to a PAC-CW deal. The PAC probably didn't take CW's offer seriously. Now they might try to come back to the table as a "real sports channel"
Possibly.

But my guess is the CW got those ACC games on the cheap since they were tier 3.

I would think the Pac12 wants their linear partner to be tier 1/tier2 at a hefty pricetag.

In regards to the PAC-12 this probably means either CW was looking for something similar (price & amount of content) with the PAC-12 and moved on or this is the start of a CW plan that will likely include some PAC-12 content as well.

Honestly this would make a PAC deal with the CW make a lot more sense.

They could do 4 windows a saturday: do ACC at 11am and 2:30, do PAC at 6 and 9:30.

And note that Raycom is producing this content for CW. CW may not be wanting to be in the production side of this yet. PAC-12 also produces its own content.

Still think the big question is money.

If CW has 2 of 5 Pac10 games and be the primary linear distribution partner, are they willing to pay enough to make Pac12 Presidents happy? My guess is CW got ACC games on the cheap since they are tier3.

IMO the conflict: a streamer will want the top 1 or 2 Pac10 games each week to drive customer subscriptions and viewership. And CW will want the same if it's going to put football on Saturday nights.

Could CW be home of LIV Golf, ACC and Pac10?

Interesting indeed. Wonder if ESPN sold off rights to games or if they will be simulcast on ACCN & CW.

Not really new territory for the ACC, prior to ACCN I remember ACC games being on WHO 13.2 channel.
ESPN already sublicensed a block of ACC FB and BB games to Raycom. Those games appeared on RSNs and broadcast channels like WHO 13.2 across the country. With the disappearance of RSNs on the majority of linear provider channel lineups, it made sense for Raycom to strike this deal with CW for consistency and availability across the country. Good move by Raycom, ACC and CW IMO.

If the PAC was smart, they would strike a similar deal to move FB and BB games previously on PACN to CW or ION given PACN's extremely limited carriage. PACN would continue to produce the games.

I agree this would make a PAC/CW deal make way more sense. The question that still remains is the $$$ and if they will be good enough to please everyone.

Am I crazy for thinking id rather have CW as a major partner than ESPN? Games would be completely free over the air, all you need is an antenna, no cable or streaming subscription.

However, I'm assuming CW probably can't pay as much as ESPN can, so that's probably the reason.

All true. I really liked the ISU/Iowa wrestling meet on PBS. But, I recognize that isn’t possible these days with the money coming in from the BTN and ESPN+
