Sounds like he's hanging the cleats up....for now.

Great career, lets get back to that orange faced sweater wearing A-Rod using steroids :jimlad:

As much heat as he gets for retiring and unretiring...it has to be a tough decision! And the timing is difficult as well. Those guys are forced to make a decision at the end of a long season...who knows how he will feel in June?

Over under on his unretirement?

I say May 10.

Nah, it'll be immediately after the Jets name Kellen Clemmons the starter and select two QB's in the draft. The draft begins April 25, so I'm guessing Brett'll indicate his interest in returning no later than May 1! He waited too long last season and learned his lesson...

Colin Cowherd just had a 10 minute long brown nosing session where he talked about how Favre is an American Icon, a legend, and the only current NFL QB who could have played in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and beyond. Sure, you have to take the bad with the good, but he's a gunslinger.

Uggh, I want to throw up. Colin must've had some pretty thick kneepads on.

I hate it when analyists toss around the term "gunslinger" like it's some great quality in a quarterback. All "gunslinger" means is that the QB tends to be sloppy, take big risks, and play out of control. Yeah, that's exactly what I want in a quarterback.

Hopefully #4 stays retired this time.

You're talking about a guy who's broken many records and will be in the Football Hall of Fame. I think you're taking a leak in the wind if you're trying to tear him down...

I would hate to have a QB who won 3 straight MVP's. Been to 2 Super Bowls, won 1 of them. Won more games at the QB position than anyone else. Has a higher QB rating than Jon Elway (by a lot). Never missed a game due to injury. Was a great teammate. ETC ETC :jimlad:

I am not a Favre apologist by far...but he is one of the greats.

You're being nostalgic. He is not the same QB today. The cost of having him on your team TODAY is much different. There is no arguing about how great a QB he is---when looking at the overall picture. I would not want him to QB my team next season.

this is true....

his arm began to break down this season.

he won't be back.

I'll talk him back into playing when I see him in Disney World in a couple of weeks. He's only 39 for crying out loud!

I am a Vikings fan and I would take him in a second. Favre was great for 2/3 of this year.

I think w/ a great running game in AP and a solid defense, it takes the pressure off of Favre and he won't wear down so easy.

I get your point though, I wouldn't want him QB'ing a lot of other teams

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Favre was not a great quarterback, but there are people that will swear up and down that he is the best QB ever to play a down. Cowherd, this morning, was going on and on about how people can't identify with Peyton Manning because he's too smart, or Tom Brady because he's too good looking, but Favre? He's everyman. He's humble. He's one of us.

I call BS on that. His little showdown with the Packers, last season is evidence of that.

With that being said, I respect the career that the man put together. He is most certainly a hall of famer, and ought to be inducted on the first ballot.

All I am saying, is that if you remove the mystique from around the guy, you are left with a QB whose best days are long past, and who probably should have hung it up about 4 years ago. 84 INT's in 4 years. What other NFL QB could get away with that?

Favre hurt his image a little these past 4 years which is really really sad. If he had gone out 4 years ago, he would widely be thought of as the most popular football player of all time
