Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

TBF of the 18,200 posts in here 18,199 of them are the same. (I'm sure at least one of these posts are valid.)
I get that. I just don't understand why people continue to link tweets that they know have no validity.

At least when people in here are speculating, they aren't framing it as having any kind of real knowledge.

I'd be completely fine with deleting posts that are Swaim tweets. It's a completely pointless thing to throw in here as it has no connection to reality. I might as well just make up realignment rumors too.
I get that it's annoying, but like it or not they are also part of the conversation and can influence the thoughts and opinions of others. There is some value in knowing what Swaim is saying if for no other reason than to know if what someone else is saying is just repeating Swaim so it can be ignored.

I disagree, but people obviously like posting his tweets and treating them like information. It's harmless, it's just annoying clutter to a certain percentage of folks.

The "legitimate" journalists are all just giving us propaganda for whichever side is feeding them info. It's not like they have been any more accurate than Swaim. It's all just bull ****, but people want to talk about it so they will keep shoveling.

The difference is their ******** comes from people who might know something. And they're occasionally right.

Swaim's ******** comes from his own mind, and he's been nakedly making stuff up for over a decade. Anyone following realignment should know this. MHVer3 is more credible than Swaim is. More than anything, I'm just baffled at why people still follow Swaim like he knows something.

The entire history of realignment has been tweets with no validity. Every reporter with insider information has been the result of administrators using reporters to shape the conversation. At no point was any of it actual verified information. I guarantee that as soon as something official happens, there will be a separate thread to announce it. Until then, this thread is going to be full of BS reports and Twitter posts about rumors and speculation. Buckle up and enjoy it for what it is. But don’t ever mistake this thread for a source of real information.

Wannstedt isn't a reporter. He's an ex coach that was spouting off.

I never took him seriously, FWIW. And the difference is that it was the first time he'd ever weighed in on the subject.

Since the 2010 realignment, Greg Swaim has been posting realignment rumors under the auspice of having sources. He makes definitive statements that constantly don't happen. Not once, in 13 years, has he been right about anything. And people keep posting his links. As much as I dislike MHVer3, he's been fed accurate information 2-3 times over the past decade. Swaim has never been right about anything. Ever. And people keep posting it, discussing it, and treating it like he has a track record of knowing something.

Swaim should be viewed for entertainment only.

Like it or not people like to read things to stroke their own ego. People like Swaim capitalize on this. It should be up to the reader to choose what they want to believe or don't believe. Or, looking at it the way my father presented it to me: without others lowering the bar, I wouldn't look as good :D So, the world needs idiots to make us look better.

People keeping say stuff like this, but I guess I just can't understand why someone is entertained by it.

The fun/addictive part about all of this (to me) is the idea that you might be catching the news the moment it breaks and things change dramatically. You know that what Swaim posts isn't real. To me it's no different than if one of us just started posting from our personal account with **** like "ISU to the NFL in 2025".

Add in "Colorado to take ISU's spot in the Big 12" and you could get some followers

He was working for Fox as an analyst at the time. That should be held to a higher standard than this Swaim guy.

If this were a thread that had actual news in it, I’d tend to agree. But this entire thread after the USC announcement has been pure conjecture. Treat it as such. It’s basically pro wrestling. You know it’s not real, but it can be fun at times.

The odd thing about Swaim is I’ve watched him on a couple pods as a guest and both times he was actually pretty measured and rational. Like he’s a different person on Twitter.

The way I view it is that we know this whole landscape is in flux, and there's a ton of possible moves that could happen, given the Pac's lack of a contract. Every day, there's a reasonable chance of some kind of actual news breaking.

If we weren't in a period that bore such a high potential for actual realignment, I'd be more likely to agree with you.

Probably, but I deleted Twitter off my phone 3 months ago and haven't looked back. It's kind of nice to not have **** shoved in my face that's intentionally being sent my way to make me mad.

There's absolutely more of that lately. Twitter is at it's best for breaking events. I followed the Boston Bomber hunt in real time. Stuff on there way before it hit the news.

It's always been a **** show. Absolutely the worst of humanity. Somehow it's even worse lately.

That's saying something. But I'll keep doom scrolling waiting for PAC news to break

Since Elon took over, and the "For You" tab showed up, I've been getting fed (whether it's sports or politics) a bunch of accounts with extreme ridiculous takes that seem clearly engineered to piss me off. Because they know that drives interaction.

**** them. I just wanted to follow sports, music, funny people, and the occasional real news break.
