***Official 2023 Weather Thread***

I’ll be honest, it’s been one of the nicest summers I’ve ever experienced so far. Smoke doesn’t bug me and the drought means less work for my job. Keep the dew points low and keep it going

I never understood why anyone gets excited about tornadoes, or severe storms? All I can think of is all the pain and suffering some are feeling because they lost their house, or even someone they loved possibly. I hate tornadoes and severe storms myself.

I don’t think anyone wishes harm. I love tornadoes as long as they stay out in stray fields.

I don’t like tornadoes but I do love me some thunder and lightning.
Hell yeah

I’m actually more in to forecasting, postcasting, and radar.

It's as if the rotation of the whole weather system is causing the cell to "hover" over Ankeny/alleman
Upper-level low pressure center very close by, so lots of upward motion (and that spiraling movement you're seeing on radar), there's a deep layer of moisture in the atmosphere, and the steering winds are pretty weak, so cells aren't going to move much.

I had another .7 in my gauge this morning, all told that is right at 3 inches of rain over the past 3 to 4 days. We can use more, but at least the yard is greening up a little.
