My favorite Royce play was him exploding past Drummond and dunking it on the first play of the UCONN game. It was like they won on that play alone and just proceded to kick the crap out of them after that.
As a life-long Cyclone fan, you get used to having to win with lesser talent. What I loved about Royce was he was the most talented player on the floor, regardless of who we were playing. And I loved how Hoiberg played inside out and forced the other team's big man to guard Royce as he brought the ball up the court.
Ok, now I remember that one.
There was an off hand or off leg dunk during some game I was blown away by.
He had the talent to be a long-time NBA all-star and super-millionaire.

There's never been a player more fun to watch in an ISU jersey. It can be argued that Fizer, Grayer, etc. were better ballers, but none were as fun to watch as Royce. You never knew what was going to happen when he had the ball.
I would put Tinsley at the top.

He’s a person that the program should not be associating with. Heck of a player and appreciate what he did while he played here. Off the court while here, and since he’s left. He’s a truly awful person.

It would have been fun to see Royce another year or two but it's been said by more than one person in the know that the coaching staff was not sad to see him go. I don't know any specifics, but apparently it took a lot of work to keep him out of trouble while he was in Ames.
"Brain worms" seems like a perfect way to describe it honestly. And of course I wish him no ill will. I just don't subscribe to him or his line of thought anymore.
Absolutely true. I do wonder if this would have ultimately led to his demise in the NBA anyway. He was a tweener in that he had the body of a power forward, the skillset of a point guard, but the shooting touch of a center. Awful at free throws too. Not sure where his game would have fit in the NBA. A role certainly, but he was probably never going to be a 'star' so to speak.
If Fran would diversify the mothers like Royce, endless recruiting pipeline!
