Reclining on an airplane

I'm able to recline pretty much whenever I want . . . my frequent flier status almost always gets me a complimentary upgrade [humble brag].

However, when I sit in coach, if someone reclines, then I cannot open my laptop . . . partly a fat tummy problem too!

I'm 6'3" and a reclining person in front of me has never been an issue. If taller I can understand but this is honestly a way bigger deal with people than it should be.

So their comfort is more important than mine or vis versa. As a 6' kinda fat guy I will live with the guilt of their uncomfortableness for mine.

Honestly part of it is how you recline. Some people just shove it all the back as soon as the plane is off the ground.

That just sends the message to me of “I don’t give a *?&$@ about your comfort.”

Others recline a bit later and more gently. That sends the message to me of “I don’t really give a *?^%* about your comfort, but I’ll at least pretend”

Imma say it. Screw y'all, I'm reclining. If I sit straight up for 8 hours I won't be able to walk with my hip, lower back problems. If they don't want us to do it, then take the recline option away. I paid for my seat, I'm quiet and I don't expect much from anyone around me. You deal with your misery, I'll deal with mine.

Why do I have to be uncomfortable because of someone else.? I had to ride a bus from DC back to Iowa. The couple behind me would get ticked if we reclined into them because they were too tall they said. They reclined slightly themselves. I got zero sleep on the way home because I couldn't get comfortable due to sitting straight up.

If you need the extra leg room buy the business class (front row of the regular cabin) or first class. Don't bother me because you are too cheap to buy what you should.

When I took the train into the city I'd free fart (as needed) in a crowd.

Then I have plausible deniability. A little tougher on a plane, but I could always shoot a look at an old person to shift blame

I'm 6'3" as well and my knees touch the seat in front of me always. Height comes from different areas. You must have shorter legs and a longer torso. It's impossible to use a laptop if someone in front of me reclines. I tend to open it flatly to use it.
I've learned to expect most people just don't give a **** about others.

It don’t lean back enough to make me more comfortable. Also generally the person in front of me can’t lean back far enough to effect me

If you are on a plane that has seats that go that far back, let me know. I have a couple reasons.

IMO, being in a window/aisle seat and then taking up the armrest that you share with the poor middle seat person is much worse than reclining a seat. The armrest hoggers are the worst. I’m not immature enough to fight for it the whole flight and if you have a window or aisle, you already have that going for you

One of the few times in life I'm glad I'm short is when I'm on a plane. You tall people have enough advantages in life. You can be uncomfortable on a plane for a few hours.
