Team USA U19 Thread

Seems like the USA offense is whoever has the ball tries to drive to the basket. No passing. Little movement. Not impressed with the coaching.
Agree. Don’t think I’ve seen a single pass into the post or more than 1 or 2 passes on any possession. All 1 on 1 playground ball. Getting schooled by Slovenia

Slovenia up going into fourth quarter 61-52. USA seems to think they can just "out athlete" the opponent rather than playing sound basketball.

USA comes back to win 77-72. Biliew had 3 points on one three pointer. Played very few minutes. I don't think he played in the fourth quarter as USA started to come back so they stuck with those players, I believe.

Final 136-69.

I think Omaha ended with 10 points. He played about the first four minutes of each quarter then sat. I don't think any of his baskets were on plays ran for him.

But I don't think there were any plays run by Team USA in general. Everything was drive to the basket. Poor 3-point shooting until the fourth quarter then they hit about four or five.

Nice female Aussie announcer.
Is Prohm the offensive coach?

Critics of a team formed a week ago not playing "team ball" seems odd.
If you watched the game, team ball would mean a pass just one time on offense. That was hard to get apparently for USA. Slovenia almost won on free throws and making one or more passes. It was like AAU all over again for USA, lot of solo dribble drive, fadeaway, pull-up. Talent just started making shots in the 4th.

Exactly what do you expect from a team that was named a week prior to competing.?

Every Team USA or Olympic team plays this way. It’s really nothing new.

I got on a rabbit hole of the original Dream Team the other night. They certainly played that way but also shared the ball real well. Many of them had played either together or against one another so long that they knew their games.

I have no idea how they'd do today but I had forgotten how the crowds and world were in awe watching the kings of the game on a showcase.

Even the players they were playing against were in awe. Just happy to step on the floor with them. Different world now, with the talent a bit more evenly dispersed.
