The thread about living out of state as an ISU fan made me think of this. I have often read stories involving both fan bases where someone approached them or they approached some one else.
Which has always made me wonder how many do this and why? I very, very rarely even approach fans wearing Iowa gear. In fact at Greater Chicago Auto Auction I see Iowa gear regularly and have as of yet to even say Go Hawks. Not saying there is anything wrong with that as there are times that I do, but still rarely.
What does baffle me is what inspires fan bases to go out of their way to trounce their rival out of state. I read it happens both ways so I am wondering others' thought s on this.
Now to be fair so no one thinks I am trying to be hoity toity .........If I field a dealer trade call from a Ford dealer in Iowa I'm not above asking if they are an ISU or Iowa fan and then jokingly telling them I wont help them......
But that is as much to joke around and also because I hate messing with dealer trade calls…….
