Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I said it makes mental math obsolete. Simple math is taught and understood by elementary school kids.

Just because you can't do mental math doesn't mean others don't still do it. You've never added up the price of items you're purchasing to make sure everything was rung up correctly at the register? Or do you pull out your calculator?

I use mental math all the time. The point is that you can also use your smart phone for all of it. 20 years ago when everyone didn’t have a calculator in their pocket the only option was mental math. Now you have a tool that will do it for you to find a tip, add the cost of items or anything else. That’s the point. You can still do mental math and it will be faster (usually) but now there is the option where you don’t have to if you don’t want to or can’t.

Untrue. I use mental math a ton. If I am at the gas station or any store picking up a few things, I will often have an idea of the total price in my head and a few times have caught something that got scanned twice or got scanned at the wrong price. Not pulling out my calculator every time.

Also use it for tips. It's also good to check prices at the grocery store, such as determining if a 6 pack of 16.9 oz bottles is a better deal than a 12 pack of cans.
I answered most of this in the post above but for the grocery store example you can also just look on the tag and it has the price per ounce, no math needed.

20 years ago the people the people that couldn't do mental math were lost. Today, even thought they have a "calculator in their pocket" they are still lost.

Hypothetical question: in 15 to 20 years, will there be a Big 12 school(s) which rank in the top 5 of power 5 schools in TV viewership for football? After OuT leave, which game in the Big 12 regular season football will be the highest watched game?

100% this. Idk what it is about that conference but fans of big 10 schools that I have met are very much in their own little sports bubble.
Most fans are like this unless you are a diehard. SEC fans are the same way where there is nothing outside of the SEC. We’ve seen how pretentious the PAC-12 fans are. And the Big 12 is no different where we have a very high opinion of ourselves. Now most on here are big sports fans so we know what else is out there, but believe it or not we aren’t the norm.

The last time I had to read cursive was when I was taught it over 20 years ago. Right around the same time we converted my great grandmother's recipe box.

Such a useless thing to ever learn and I hope kids these days don't have to waste their time for it
