Netflix Sends Emails to Subscribers They No Longer Want

They didn't care people were sharing because subscriptions were going up every quarter. A few quarters of losing customers...now they want customers to all have a subscription.

For me the competition is radically different. I view Amazon, Disney Plus and Paramount Plus as equal services for my taste and HBO Max as a radically higher quality product. Ten years ago that wasn't really the case at all.

For movie selection at a given time there are free services that have equal or better classic or 5-10 year old movies. Their movie selection kind of baffles me at how weak it is sometimes.

That's the thing. In 2023 theyre still charging extra for 4k, making you be on the most expensive plan to get it. That hasn't been the case on the other services that cost less and offer more\better content. Their value proposition for their current pricing is entirely based on the sharing component. They're a $4-5 a month service trying to charge $15-20

For the relatively few amount of good shows netflix has these days, I imagine most will have no problem raising the black flag instead.

They won't let you download epi's to more than one device (even if it's just one at a time being used). Cheeze.

BTW, the device limit is based on your plan. You only pay for 1 device. You get 2 devices with the 1080p plan or 6 devices with the 4k plan.

What service isn't charging extra for 4k? I know YTTV and Max are. Amazon doesn't because it's still tied to your shopping account, but I doubt that stays "free" much longer.

And yes, this is why they are doing this. There's a lot of people that are leaving Netflix and they need to find a way to make up for that. It is a dying platform and they're trying to stay afloat as long as possible. They won't exist in 10 years, we know that and they know that.

Looks like the resident stadium seat police has become the resident streaming service police.

Yeah. Because if I want something I’ll pay for it. Easy as that. If I can’t afford it.. I won’t. It’s that simple.

Amazon, Paramount, Disney, Peacock, HboMax didn't until just today when they became max as a way to mask their own price hike with the transition. So most of their direct competitors. If you haven't noticed though, HBOMax has basically been a dumpster fire since their new CEO took over, so I wouldnt look them as a great example.

YTTV is a different ballgame entirely since they're basically cable. Their 4k offerings are minimal anyway, the real benefit with that one is upping the number of allowed streams.

If we own a second home, will we just have to do the verification process every time? We have times when both of us are at the same home but other times when one is at home one and the other is at home two.

Well it's been a good run girl who I dated like 14 years agos netflix.
I had a friend that bought a floor model tv and someone had logged in at the store and he never signed out for YEARS lol

Stayed at an AirBNB once and someone left their acct logged in......MIGHT have added some shows to their watchlist to raise their/their wife/husbands eyebrows

No one gives a **** what their terms of use says when they marketed it a completely different way and they're already billing by the screen. People who share the accounts ARE paying for it when they pay for multiple screens.
So...marketing can never change? Good to know. Thank God everything in your local dollar store used to be a dollar.

And people are getting multiple screens. Their expectation now is that mom is watching in the living room, dad is watching in the garage, and the kids are watching in the basement. If they want to do that that's well within their right. It's also well within your right to tell them to pound sand. They don't owe you anything. You don't owe them anything.

It's some grade-A ******** my wife's Mach E includes a 3 year Blue Cruise trial that I'm well aware was built into the cost of the car. After year 3 ends I'm stuck paying $75 a month to maintain that. Ford is well within their right to do that....I'm well within my rights to tell them to **** off.

Reality is this is the way society is trending and its getting a lot worse before it gets any better.

Bro, you're the epitome of aggressive capitalism. Life is not all about our buying power. Jfc it's Netflix and you're defending this like it's the Cold War and the Commies are trying to destroy our way of life.

Will whatever Netflix gains by getting the freeloaders to start paying be more than offset by cancelled subscriptions from the former subscribers?

I'll wait for the email before deciding what to do.

Maybe I'll like 2 months off, one month on. The shows I like don't get new seasons for years.

Hopefully HBOMax doesn't do the same thing, I dont even know the person who's login I'm using,
