Completely agree the Big10 would favor UNC and UVA because of their academics. But like I said above, does UNC FB and MBB benefit more recruiting the SEC footprint than Big10 footprint?

Right. Bad football from many schools located in areas that are greatly overshadowed by NFL teams. Purdue/Indiana by the Colts, Illinois/NW by the Bears (massively), Gophers by the Vikings (massively), Rutgers and Maryland (fuggetaboutit). Do the large alumni bases of these schools play out in the ratings? Maybe they do, but it seems like the rest of the B1G are just riding the coattails of Ohio State and Michigan (and maybe Penn St) with no apparent advantage over the Big 12 schools.
FSU is still ranked 55 in us news, not going through the rankings debate again but they would be right with a lot of other big ten schools.
Yeah but I don't think they're AAU and as silly as it seems anymore I think that still matters to university presidents. That list was just my uninformed swing so who knows, FSU may be at the top. It just seems like they're not as much of a cultural fit which I think matters to B1G leadership. Nebby aside. Who the h*ll knows.
ND isn’t AAU either, B1G still wants them. B1G also loves them some markets, I’m sure they would like to get into Florida.
Yeah AAU wouldn't matter with ND at all. It might not with FSU, I think priority on that criteria is waning but for some in high positions is still a thing.
Are these numbers deceiving because B12 contract is for 12 teams and BIG and SEC are 14? So B12 should have like $62M more in order to compare to other 14 team conferences?
Yeah, I knew that it was unequal number of teams per conference such that the $1,000,000,000 listed for B1G is $62.5M per team while the $380,000,000 listed for Big 12 (38% of B1G number) is $31.7M per team (50.7% of B1G) [62.5% of SEC]
Finally, someone to the root of the argument. We can all talk side arguments like 'academics', 'recruiting', etc till we're dead. The reality of it all is $$$ and if the 'value' of teams is backed by the people actually paying the money. And that's not the conference. The only play the conference has in all this is simple: can we convince our media partners to pony up to increase our per school payout? OR do we take a per school hit to add more prestige, markets, stability? The true influencers are not looking at the immediate future, but are already envisioning what the next contract will be and every step of how we can, as a conference, leverage our asset to create 'more' value so the media partners will pony up. That aside, I'm having a blast seeing people dog fight each other.

Clemson fits perfectly as they are right now in the SEC. Not sure if their recruiting/performance would hold up playing SEC teams for a whole season but they feel like a SEC school. Get it’s double dipping into South Carolina but still think it would make sense.
It is weird. There is a precedent for this breaking off and forming a new one - the WAC to the Mountain West.
I doubt the WAC had a GoR when that happened......
