NFL: Chiefs hire Haley from AZ

That's a good hire for the Chiefs. He will be a great head coach someday; maybe not now but eventually.

I can live with this. I'm concerned that he doesn't have any head coaching experience, but I'm excited to see where this will go. Much more excited than I was when Herm was hired.

What do all these teams have in common? All have heaad coaches who are young, former assistant coaches with no previous head coaching experience and all made the playoffs this year.

Oh BTW, I love the hire. Cann't wait to get home tonight and watch the archieved presser.

Exactly who I suspected we'd get. I'm happy about it, and I'm way more excited about him than I was with Herm as well.

I have to admit I'm not super excited about the hire either, but truth be told I really don't know much about him.

I am always wary of hiring guys like this without much experience and with an offense loaded with playmakers.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely excited about the prospect of the Chiefs having similar fortunes with a young head coach. I just hope it doesn't backfire and that the Chiefs aren't just hiring what turns out to be a flavor of the month.

To be clear, I'm happy about this hire. Out of the available candidates, this one was probably the best.

Love it. Now go get Cassel for some picks, somehow keep the #4 pick this year and get Crabtree and then go sign Peppers, Dansby and another defensive guy and they shoudl be back on track. Throw in a Larry Johnson trade and get some more picks.

And if they keep LJ, just imagine the sideline arguments those two cold get in to.

I honestly hope they hang on to Thigpen. I'd feel just as comfortable with him as my starter next season as I would Cassell. Cassell played for an extremely successful franchise with great players around him. Thigpen played with the poo-poo platter and still put up great numbers and didn't turn it over much the second half of the season.

I'm not sold on Thigpen but I hope they at least bring in someone either via free agency or the draft to push him for the starting spot. This year was a joke thinking Croyle could stay healthy, Huard would step in and show something, and Thigpen kind of fell into the job. Terrible planning by Carl Peterson which is why he's no longer the GM. As a Chiefs fan I would be disappointed if we didn't make some big splashes in the draft and free agency with all that cap space and 2 exciting and young people in Poiloi and Haley calling the shots now. Last year's draft was yet another bust and look at some of the solid young QB's that came out of that draft that helped their teams immediately or could be in a position to push for a starting spot in another year or so.

I agree with you there Trav but I hope they make those big signings on the offensive and defensive lines.

I agree with you there but you can pretty much pick a position right now to improve. The lines especially. I wouldn't mind adding a moderately priced WR, LB, and CB to the mix if it fits to sign or trade for a guy. The lines are the worst right now obviously and an impact DE and some help about any spot on the OL right now need to be top priority.

I think we are of the same mind. I had dinner at BWW with some friends last night and they were asking me what the Chiefs needed in the draft. I told them everything.

i think it sucks... now Warner might not come back because if Boldin leaves too then Warner will most likely leave...

I was warming up to Herm, but initially I was appalled he was hired. It was Herm's idea to start over and I thought it was a good one.

We'll see I guess.
