I'm curious if anyone else has run into this. I'm browsing instagram and the site refreshes and says my account is suspended for community standards violation. I haven't posted in months, maybe even a year, so this is goofy. It asks for me to verify my mobile number with a text which I complete, then it gives me this page.

Is this crap for real??? I will walk away from my account before I comply with that. It really feels like a MITM attack.

No idea if related because I can't say I use social media beyond CF, but Instagram is owned by Facebook. Could be an issue with the Facebook side.

There’s info on the Instagram website about how they’ll sometimes ask for a video selfie to verify accounts, but it also talks about the importance of various angles/etc of a video and how still photos can be manipulated. So this doesn’t really jibe with what you’re dealing with.

I dunno, though. I do not use the Insta, so I have no experience with this.

My guess is you got hacked by a bot and now IG is trying to verify you're not a bot.

It's possible. I run Pi-Hole which is an advertising blocking software and occasionally it trips website bot detection.

Seems like it could be a scam.

That said, I got locked out of Facebook for inactivity and they legit wanted me to upload my drivers license. Hell no. So I’m outta Facebook.
I didn’t know that was a thing on Facebook. I should check my profile. I only sign in like twice a year.

Me too. Facebook was surprisingly quittable. I have Insta and never used it. I prefer platforms where I can think less of people for what they post because they are strangers.

Twitter is now requiring you to give your birthday, I guess in anticipation of the states that think they are going to keep minors from looking at social media. More likely so that they know which accounts get the Metamucil ads.

So basically someone else can’t stick their bot in your Pi Hole without your permission?
