Man, I used to work with a guy who lived in Charlotte (and commuted to Cedar Rapids). That’s how I know it’s pronounced “sharr-LOT”

Usually the sheriff’s office in a rural county. If there is not a warning system, contact your city council, county supervisors and your local Emergency Management Coordinator. Chances are your local government is still sitting on a pot load of unspent covid money that they might be able to use.
