What music are you listening to right now?

How do you know Tom Ze'?
Took a trip to Brazil about twenty years ago and discovered lots and lots of Brazilian music. My favorite was Las Tribalistas, but I think I've already posted their song here.

Oh, who cares, here it is again:

I’m hopping in the Way Back Machine tonight. 2003… 20 years ago….

So these popped up on the playlist

Not sure if anyone else likes Rick Beato's stuff on YouTube, but he's great for going in depth on music. He just dropped an interview with Robert Deleo from Stone Temple Pilots and it's definitely worth watching if you like their music. A lot of insight into how they wrote their songs.

Never heard of them, I will listen to it later. I was there from 1980 -83, so most of the singers that I know are from that time. But we visited from time to time. This was a group from nearby where I lived when I was there that was really incredible.

There used to be a world market shop in Pella, where I picked up this CD. It's a great reminder that French Guyana borders Brazil. The Putumayo collections were a great way to discover world music before there was YouTube.

Rick Beato is great....very good vids he has on the YT. He is quite talented in his own right....has written or co-written some pretty successful songs.

Headed to see Blink in just over a month in Chicago. I may weep when they play this song.

I've been running across current songs with ties to the past.

Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" covered by Milky Chance:

"Don't Fear the Reaper" covered by Denmark + Winter:

And a song from Noel Galagher's High Flyng Birds remixed by Robert Smith:

I think I have heard of them and they are related to a couple of musicians that I bought cds back in the day.

We have quite a few Putamayo cds.

Found it, thanks, Mitten!

For your information, "Be Good, Tanyas" is an American female bluegrass group with a musician named Abigail Washburn, who is married to Bela Fleck, a famous bluegrass banjo player, and she taught in China, and learned about Chinese culture and music, and has her own career and done some wonderful stuff after the Be Good Tanyas, whom I also listen to. Some really great stuff!
