Let’s remember some guys: Tavon Sledge. Nkereuwem Okoro. Clayton Custer. The more things change…
I set the over/under on number of 4-year guys on this team at 1.5.
Aside from Clayton Custer, the others were not good with other schools.

I stopped going back after 2017, but he was good. So three guys in 8 seasons.
Wasn't Cato a transfer? He was a monster.

This guy is a moron on Twitter.
I feel sorry for the kid, because he never looked comfortable the little time he was on the court. He was 1 for 5 from 3 point land, and 3 for 8 overall. All in garbage time. Pretty small sample size, but not a good showing for playing against other team's scrubs.Best for both parties on this one. Eli had a long way to go and would probably be wise to move down a level. Truly wish him the best at his next stop!
Meanwhile we have 3 open scholarships and at least 2 of them need to be utilized on scoring guards/wings who preferably can shoot.
Definitely negative with a capital N
Might be easier to list those who weren’tA very large percentage of our best players over the last 30 years have been transfers of some sort.
We’re not in the tournament without Holmes this year either. Total dud evidently.Shayock was meh?
Georges, Monte,Thomas, Ejim. I’m sure I’m missing some.Might be easier to list those who weren’t
We just had a collection of predominantly transfers that beat 7 top ten teams and earned a 6 seed. You're going to be absolutely miserable if that doesn't meet your expectations.I don’t want to be too negative, but we haven’t really won a transfer portal since Hoiberg was coaching. Only a handful have been somewhat successful
All the one and done season guys were meh besides Brockington and Gabe is the only one to actually play out his career here.
Yes of course we wouldn’t make it with out him. We only had 5 guards. He struggled a lot in February/March. Shooting % dropped significantlyWe’re not in the tournament without Holmes this year either. Total dud evidently. But yes of course we wouldn’t have as we only had 5 guards on the roster.
To be frank, to start February we were looking to finish top 3 in conference and getting Des Moines region. We went on to finish 4-9, falling to a 6 seed and had the worst offensive performance shooting wise in NCAA tournament history. But yeah we beat #1 UNC in November!! The season ending was nothing short of a disappointment. We just had a collection of predominantly transfers that beat 7 top ten teams and earned a 6 seed. Half of those guys are quality big 12 players or never played much. Kunc never showed much, Osun was too limited, Tre is TBD, Hinson somehow never played here and is lighting it up at Pitt, Bolton left, Jacobson regressed, and Bowie was fine for what he was but wasn’t a top caliber guy.Umm including only Prohm and Otzelberger recruits...
Darrell Bowie (not a Big 12 starter but fine in a bench/rotation role)
Donovan Jackson (excellent shooter, would love to have him next season)
Marial Shayok (one of the best transfers of the Transfer U era)
Michael Jacobson (again, would love to have him coming in next year)
Rasir Bolton (wasn't a culture fit with TJ, but still an excellent player)
Jalen Coleman-Lands (another guy I'd love to have coming in next year)
Blake Hinson (didn't play for Iowa State, but he tore it up on offense at Pitt)
Iz Brockington (first-team all-Big 12, an excellent two-way college SG)
Gabe Kalscheur (similar to Brockington only with more emphasis on defense)
Tre King III (flashed at times this past season, hopefully will be very good next year)
Jaz Kunc (sort of a "Mario" player... few incredible strengths but no real weaknesses)
Caleb Grill (obviously it ended badly but he was playing well there for 1.5 seasons)
Jaren Holmes (HM all-Big 12, would be very happy to have him back)
Osun Osunniyi (HM all-Big, again would be very happy to have him back)
Plenty of guys who were quality or even excellent Big 12 players up there.
As I said, miserable. And apparently content to be so. Enjoy. To be frank, to start February we were looking to finish top 3 in conference and getting Des Moines region. Sometimes I think both sides know, which is likely the case with Eli. I doubt he is being run off by the staff. If his transfer is based on input from the coaching staff, it unfortunate we have come to the point where a HS player has 1 year to prove they can earn PT during their career.
I emphasize If, because it could be Eli's decision. With Kyle Green's success redshirting kids at UNI, would be interested if that was ever an option.
