2023 NCAA MBB coaching carousel

Cowboy Kermit likely not a credible source lol, but this would be a big one to keep an eye on.
This would send some ripples through college basketball for sure

Edit - I don't follow Creighton closely, but seeing more this morning, I guess there's been some rumblings for a while. Sounds like McDermott and the new AD maybe don't get along all that well.
Will be interesting to watch play out.

Interesting. Creighton is a good job. Unless he goes to ND, I don't know where he'd be a "fit" with the other openings right now. Cal and Providence aren't better jobs.

He flirted with Ohio State pretty hard last time it was open and there's a legitimate chance that it's open again next year. I see Wisconsin as a great fit for him too if they run Gard.

Didn’t Greg say in the past that he would enjoy a Bradley level job?

On one hand, I don't blame any fan of Oregon for not being all that enthused about going to an NIT game for the second year in a row.

On the other hand, I understand the frustration when I look at their attendance figures for the whole season. They're pretty pathetic when they have a 12k capacity arena.

Agree the last time ISU MBB hosted NIT fan attendance was less than stellar but a long way from 3300. For most fans the season ends with the ncaa tourney. Takes a pretty good fan to show up at the end of a season to watch a tourney the rest of the nation forgets about.

Seems like a good hire results based. Who did they think they could reasonably get?
They were all in on Kellen Sampson but apparently he's content hanging at Houston until Kelvin retires which is honestly the right move. If you're going to fail, you might as well do it for a Big 12 paycheck.

What else is there to do in Eugene on a Tuesday night. Just more PAC 10 apathy. It might help if they got rid of that horrible basketball court with the trees and other weird graphics. Like Boise State’s blue field, it’s hard to watch on TV.

Yeah, i think an NIT game can be fun if its like a rebuilding year with a young team. At least you can go 'hey, this team improved a lot over the year and this gives them some postseason experience'.

I'm not sure that applies very often at Oregon, and if it does, it certainly doesn't apply 2 years in a row.

But even then, even looking back to when they were having some real success, their attendance is not great.

I'm sure part of it is how tough the league is, but with some of the talent that he has brought in, it is surprising that his record is what it is (just good enough to not get fired).
Yeah, I can’t decide how our fans would feel given that record. Not happy I’d say.

If it's "what have you done for me lately," I could understand to an extent.

Does anyone know attendance for several years up through '21? (lazy right now but could look later). Elite 8, Final Four and two Sweet 16 appearances -- that's outstanding from almost any sub-blue blood.

Thanks!

Could you imagine ISU having 80% attendance or worse if there were 5 straight years of nothing below Sweet 16, including 3 regular season conference titles?

I wouldn't expect enthusiasm for NIT to be high, especially two straight seasons ... but if attendance is that bad with high-end performance ... wow.
