*** Official Selection Sunday Thread 2023 ***

Actually for bubble, I was most surprised Nevada in / Rutgers out ... not saying it's based on MY analysis, or that both or neither would/wouldn't make it.

Re: Oklahoma State -- I already assumed it'd miss the cut.

For some reason I was thinking Rutgers was 'in'.

I love our matchups compared to what we could have gotten. Xavier is very beatable IMO.

As for Iowa, it sounds like Auburn can’t score at all, so I don’t think that’s as tough a game as some think. And I feel like Houston is the worst 1 seed, and without one of their best players…. you never know. I don’t think Iowa’s draw is all that bad actually.

Still hope Pearl buries them though!!

If the aim is to get to the Sweet Sixteen it's okay.

I wanted a shot to get to the Elite 8 if we played well. Texas is easily the best and scariest 2 seed (for anyone) and the worst matchup for us. Their length and athleticism poses massive issues for us.

Early in the year, especially once the Beard thing went down, they were sloppy and you could get them to quit mentally. Winning the Big 12s in pretty impressive fashion, without Timmie Allen no less, is a pretty big feat. Not a lot of teams could miss someone like Allen and have Hunter mostly suck balls and walk through the toughest conference in the nation.

ISU has played very well without Caleb Grill, actually better, get your data updated Phonz

Eh, i get it still.

We've played 2 teams without grill. One went very well, one we lost by 13. There were definitely games earlier where grill was out due to injury our offense looked very stagnant without having a 3 pt threat.

ISU will need a team that lets them find some things inside.

I can see Iowa beating Houston for some stupid reason.

Crap happens........but if Sasser is a no go, Shead is still more than any Hawk guard can handle.

And I think Sasser goes. Smart move by Sampson holding him out for the dance.

what is timmie injury. Is he expected back?

I think that will be an interesting game. I don't know a thing about Auburn, but the fact that they are a good defensive team doesn't help Iowa. The Hawk can still get stupid hot from the outside, and they will not throw the game away with turnovers.
They have the #5 best 3 point defense in nation and a bunch of athletic guards and "home court advantage" that Iowa fans are big mad about.

Nevada and AZ st play Wednesday, then again Friday. Both Iowa St and TCU play the play in game winners on Friday.

Miss st and Pitt get extra day I guess
It’s so dumb. Games on Tu and Wed but all winners play Friday. Throw in the seeds they make play and I say just do away with the play ins.
