Can someone explain to me why Iowa could get Des Moines? Aren’t they around an 8 seed at this point? Kansas will have Des Moines I would think so they wouldn’t put an instate team against the top seed in the second round…

Not sure I'd be a fan of that. Give me a 6 seed over that. A 6 seed against a first four opponent would be ideal.

Not sure I'm a fan of what you're a fan of. You do realize that 11-seeds that tend to get on a roll in the tournament are the ones that play the play-in game, right? ISU doesn't need any of that nonsense.

While I would tend to be more in favor of a 6-seed over a 5, give me an 11 that didn't play the play-in game.

(and yes - I'm well aware we were an 11-seed last year that didn't play the play-in game and got on a roll. But that was because 1. we were badly underseeded, and 2. we were placed in MIlwaukee with what was honestly a very ideal path to the Sweet 16)

we will get to experience our 9th out of the last 12 years tomorrow. Enjoy!

Just building upon this initial post, can we all just take a step back before tomorrow's show, and truly appreciate the great coaching job and players working their a**es off these past 2 seasons. The fact we made the tourney 2 years in a row out of absolute nowhere is incredible. These were truly bonus years in my opinion. Sweet 16 last year and a good shot for another one this year. Before the madness starts up tomorrow night, just take a chance to enjoy this pleasant surprise.

Yeah its the beauty (or pain) of this tournament. We could go out and dominate the first weekend and be back to the sweet 16, or have our hearts broken by the little guy. Neither will surprise me.
The key to success in the tournament is getting there a lot with teams that are good enough to make some noise. I'm quite sure we have one this year, but that could mean anything from a deep run to an early exit. All depends on matchups, and how we play that day. I love the process anyway.

I was more commenting on the opponent. I'd much prefer going against a bubble team than a top mid-major team that just won their tournament. Charleston will be an upset candidate.

I only disagreed because I like the coaching staff to know who they are playing right away rather than trying to scout 2 teams and not knowing until 1 day before the game

The committee takes travel distance and travel expenses into consideration for all of the teams. But only the 1-4 seeds get preferential placement. Them
