Song that hits you

Man, I could have named so many. I love this topic. These are also ones that hit home with singing and there lyrics. I will stop adding songs now.

This entire album is perfect IMO. This song is the closing to the story. It's about the lead singers friend who killed herself after her mother's death. Very intense and personal. So beautiful and so haunting. This band is incredible.

This song is about teen suicide. If you have ever known anyone that has taken their life, this song will hit you big time.

This section of the song/lyrics are very emotional:

I won't believe in Heaven and Hell
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well
No pearly gates, no thorny crown
You're always letting us humans down
The wars you bring, the babes you drown
Those lost at sea and never found
And it's the same the whole world 'round
The hurt I see helps to compound
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Is just somebody's unholy hoax
And if you're up there, you'll perceive
That my heart's here upon my sleeve
If there's one thing I don't believe in
It's you
Dear God

Family member passed away unexpectedly and this was played at the funeral. I can't even listen to it. Can hardly write this post without tearing up. Damn.

During bouts of depression in Ames I used to just go drive around late at night, like 2-3 in the morning. Sound track was usually Kid A by Radiohead. This still takes me right back to the empty streets of Ames at 3AM.

One afternoon I walked into Coop records in Campustown. The woman that worked there was unwrapping a new record. I started perusing albums when she started playing it. The moment it started I knew I had to have this album

Was playing on the radio as I pulled out of the parking lot of my company's barracks at Ft Campbell, on my drive home after a year's activation(operation noble eagle). It was a beautiful late winter/early spring day that was one of those rare perfect days (temperature wise). On my way home to the girl I missed so much, and back to the first job I had out of college (I had only been there 3 months when we got the call). Little did I know I would be called back up 3 months later for Iraqi freedom. What a ********!

After the birth of my first son, this one always got me.

Along the same lines, and my aging father, I realize our time is growing shorter, this James blunt song hits me in the heart.

Not much of a James blunt fan , but the song with the video is hard to watch/listen to.

This Mike + the Mechanics song is one of my all time favorites and listening to it still chokes me up. Perhaps it's because, just prior to my father's passing (2011), he had a major stroke, it was hard to communicate with him and it was hard to tell what he could actually understand. I lamented that I had never really expressed how much he meant to me.

Not to derail the thread, but I thought Coop records was at the mall? I know Peeples Records was in Campustown. I'm old, though, so that may have changed after I left.
