The Vols are a little down this year, and play at Oklahoma on Monday in their next game, so she may have to wait. But what an incredible number.

Dan Wetzel column
USA Today article

I bought her book for a dollar, but only read a few pages.

From Cyclones.com:
One of the winningest coaches in the nation, Bill Fennelly entered the 2008-09 season ranked 21st among active college coaches with a .707 winning percentage and a career record of 446-185 over his 20-year coaching tenure. Fennelly has compiled a 280-132 record since taking the helm of the Cyclone program in 1995.

Add 15-4 to that number, and he is 461-189 (.709).

i remember watching this live. GREAT! haha She did this cheerleader bit to return the favor to Bruce Pearl for painting his chest and standing in the student section.... I like the kick peyton manning gets outta the whole thing..

Watching the game on ESPN2. Halftime. A recap and a few observations for those of you watching, and those who aren't:

OU was down BIG in the first half. I mean, a lot for such a good team playing a very YOUNG team like Tennessee. They were down 33-18 with 8 minutes left in the half. OU finishes the half with a 23- 3 run to be leading 41-36.

Courtney Paris had two fouls early, and was out for a good portion of the half. This is only part of the reason OU was struggling however. Even at the beginning of the game, OU was rushing passes, and throwing the ball away trying to get it to the post. They gave up 9 steals to Tenn which led to 17 points. Ouch.

The inside prowess of OU finally caught up to Tenn and the speed of the game. The Paris tandem, plus some really good looking backdoor cuts by the guards got lots of points in the paint.

Also, the broadcasting team of Brent Musburger and Bobby Knight is WONDERFUL. Always been kinda of a 'meh' fan of Knight, but for people who like that added insight into the game, particularly from a coaching standpoint, he's great. And Brent helps clean up the rough edges really well with his broadcasting experience. I saw them do a men's game this past weekend or late last week, and was equally impressed them as well.

Courtney Paris, with an absolutely HORRIBLE game - probably her worst shooting night of her college career, fouls out with under a minute left - with 9 pts and 12 rebs. Thus ends her streak of 112 consecutive double doubles. 12/3/2005 - 2/2/2009. WOW. She went 4-12, all of which were within 5 feet of the hoop.

Volunteers lose 80-70. Pat Summit remains at 999, goes for 1,000 against Georgia Thursday night.

Good. It was completely obvious that Coale was leaving her in to try to keep the streak alive -- up by 13+ in the last 2 minutes. Even Bob Knight didn't like that decision.

I agree. With three or four minutes left, the game was still (ok, really only slightly) going on...feeding her the ball then was just fine. But, taking time outs just to draw up a play for her to get to double figures....a little much. Especially when she had legitimate chances all 2nd half long.

And then Sherri tried to play it off in the postgame, about how she's happy that Courtney doesn't have the streak consuming her focus (or whatever) anymore. Riiiiiiiiiiight.

another great storyline, if you watched the game, OU freshman Whitney Hand led them in scoring with 20 points. She averages 9.5 for them, but what was so great was that she finished 8-9 shooting, 4-5 from the arc. And the one three she missed was her last shot. Started 8-8, half of which were threes. She just had her stroke down. It was pretty.

Also, Ashley Paris finished 7-10, and looked way good tonight. AND she's about 50 lbs lighter than Courtney right now. I hadn't seen Ashley since last year, and she's a lot more athletic looking now

Congratulations to Pat Summit......

1000 Wins in 35 years at the same school, record will never be broken ....imo

As Bobby Knight summarized... "Just think about it. To get to 1000 wins, you'd need to coach for 33 years and average 30 wins a season."

RIDICULOUS. Bus she's basically done it.
