Top 2023 Gophers recruit Dennis Evans seeks release

Amazing the goophers can’t figure it out. Loads of talent in Minneapolis and they are the only show in town for high level college ball.
so so so many players in the state that are really good in high school but the U is an afterthought in terms of support up here. For a school that has 50,000+ enrollment in a great city and in a good league it's shocking they aren't better. But...it's the hiring of head coaches. Have missed the past few which just amplifies trying to get back on track. Gonna be sh!tty for a while.

What's insane is the emergence of St. Thomas, who are now DI for basketball. They have a TON of money and hubbub up here is that they really want to get into the Big East eventually. They also have a new arena coming. Gophs best watch out or they're gonna be second fiddle in their own city.

Interesting. If they can get good enough that makes a lot of sense for St Thomas. I could honestly see that and see them being consistently better than the Gophers

Is that Catholic based? Know a woman who went there and worked for them for a bit.

I guess if any one is looking for a crazy, fairly attractive, comes from a semi well today family, divorced and has older kids, I got the right woman for them.

Yeah St Thomas is Catholic. Got kicked out of their D3 conference because apparently they were too good? Destroyed one of the great college rivalries with St Johns (in MN not out east). They have like all the highest attended d3 games. Tons of Tommie and Johnnie alums in the city

Yeah it was kind of unprecedented to see a DIII bball team to straight to DI.

The NCAA really screws those teams that transition. They are ineligible for post season play for something like three years. Makes it tough to recruit

Gopher fans basically saying they have no NIL money and that’s the main reason for their problems.
How is this true? I thought Minnesota was supposed to be a good school and it looks like they have a medical school and a law school. Wealthy alums just spending their money on Vikings box suites?

I don’t see how it can be true. NIL is just an easy excuse why their program sucks. In reality their coach is bad, their gym is crap, and there are many other sports that people care about more.

When I was there Gopher Hockey was THE ticket to get and completely eclipsed even Clem’s teams who were heading to a Final Four*. MPLS/SP is not a huge metro area for the tons of pro and college teams they have.

*Later pulled do to rampant cheating.

how is that possible? They have a huge alumni base and are in a metro where corporate donations should be through the roof. There should be plenty of money.
