Hason Ward

The question that needs to be asked is does Ward's limitations on offense do more or less than Rob's bad turnovers and shot selections? I feel like I'd rather have a 0 instead of a negative personally

Skill wise they are mediocre at best. Let’s not make a mountain out of a molehill here. You brought up personality. I think both seem like pretty good young men.

Hason Ward, similar to Jaz Kunc, wasn’t born in America. Sometimes different cultures carry themselves in a different way than say us in America. So I wouldn’t draw anything from body language from him.

But the argument who’s better Jones or Ward?
6 to 1, half dozen of the other.

Hoooold up now, I said personally. Not personality. Do not want to send the thread the wrong direction here. Both seem like good dudes

I absolutely echo this statement. He just seems like a player that can give you that great steal and slam and that’s about it offensively. Have you ever seen him pull up from midrange and knock one down? So, yeah limited offensively. Big Rob might be a better defender but not by much.
Roll players are limited by definition. So their attributes can be more easily taken away then a well rounded player.

I liked how the refs allowed the teams to play.
Only a couple calls I thought were off, one on each off the top of my head. Always say there are 5 or so bad calls every game. If they can come out 3-2 team wise. It about all you can ask for. They were consistent and that is the best.

Hason was huge today. If he and Rob come back, I feel really good about our 1, 4 and 5, and we just need to really find a couple solid 2/3 guys to go with Watson and the freshmen.

Hason with the amazing block!! I almost thought he might have been injured going down on that play. Thankfully he just got his feet tangled up and he was alright.

One thing not mentioned yet for why Rob plays over Ward - I think Ward gets lost defensively in man to man, which is probably the quickest way to earn a spot on the bench. TJ trusts Rob to be in the right place and doesn’t trust Hasan
I think it was on one of the Monday night call in shows, but TJ shared the ins/outs of our defensive sets (real in depth, like borderline coaching clinic type talk) and discussed they have a "goalie" position and a floating position (think big guys going to the FT line on defense) and the nuances of how it works. (again, that was NOT a good summary, but listening was fascinating)

It helped me better understand why something like Rob playing makes sense given what is being asked and such....and also a good reminder that there is A LOT to playing (not just pure athleticism and dunking, lol)
