This thread is derailed enough, and I am fully aware I was a participant. That conversation will need to be in a new thread, and likely in the cave.

Appreciate the debate, but probably needs to get dialed back a bit at this point. Appreciate how people tend to check themselves in this thread when it goes a bit too far. Thanks guys for the passion.

Liked it alot. Way better than Love and Thunder and more fun than Wakanda forever. The above spoiler about a certain character was right, it kind of sucked for someone who is a really menace in the comics. Kang was awesome and Rudd did a great job as usual. The comments about Janet’s time in the quantum realm were kind of gross and didn’t do her character justice. Completely not necessary especially with Hank spending 30 years trying to find her. Otherwise the movie was a fun flick, maybe not as good as the two before it, but still had a good time.

While the critic score is all the way down to 48%, it's audience rating is holding strong at a pretty respectable 84%. That is easily as big of disparity as we've seen so far with the MCU movies. Yes, as can be seen by comments already on here, there is plenty of general audience members not liking this movie, but at least I am not alone in enjoying the movie.

You’re right, I did feel like there was a bunch left out regarding Janet’s relationships with the others in the Quantum Realm. Bill Murray’s character was dropped like a bad habit in the very first scene he was in. I wonder if the sexual harassment allegations surrounding him made Marvel reduce his presence in the movie significantly.

Saw Quantumania. It was fine. Falls firmly in the category of glad I watched it, but it won't be a heavy re-watch film. Story was interesting, but felt really rushed. Seems like something that would have played out better over a full season of TV as opposed to crammed into a 2 hour film. I think the CGI complaints are overblown on this one. Since it was basically a cartoon, none of it felt as egregiously bad as stuff set in a more real world environment.

The wife and I went yesterday afternoon and when I got home Infinity War was running on cable.

Quite the contrast.

Saw it yesterday. I thought it was good. My oldest daughter said she didn’t like it very much, and she’s the one who I trust most on this stuff.

I can’t really add to what has already been said. Crazy amount of CGI (but I guess…what does one expect when the movie is the Quantum Realm?) and Majors was awesome. I actually thought Kathryn Newton was good. A little green, but I can see her coming into her own down the road. There was one character that was missing and it was a real bummer for me. I don’t know how to do the spoiler thing in mobile, so I’ll just leave it at that.

Overall, I enjoyed it. My biggest complaint was that they showed the GoG trailer right before the movie started. I did everything I could to try to avoid it even at the theater. My daughter was laughing her ass off at me :D

I also saw it yesterday. I thought it was fun, and the storyline to introduce Kang was kinda interesting. I hope they delve into his backstory and develop him like they did with Thanos.

The CGI was extensive, but it wasn't a distraction, which was an impressive feat. The fact that entire movie took place in a fictitious place was mostly not noticed after awhile.

Things that bothered me:
Cassie's dialogue was weird at times. It's like they wanted to force her to be a younger female Paul Rudd, but the humor wasn't hitting. The MODOK d!ck conversation was really cringey. Also, MODOK was just weird altogether. I know he's a weird villain, but I'm hoping that's the last of him. Also, the revolution scene had a big 'Star Wars movie' feel to it for awhile.

Questions I came out of there with:
If Kang was banished to the quantum realm by other Kangs, does that mean he was the strongest? Are we supposed to believe that he is dead based on that end-credit scene? I find it weird for these all-knowing beings to screw up the fact that he was actually dead. Following up on that, since Kang is clearly the main villain going forward, is it that same Kang or an alternate universe Kang that will be coming to the forefront?

Final thought:
Are there any consequences in the multiverse since another character can simply take the place of the "original" version if needed? This feels like a bigger cheat code than time travel.

So, in the comics there is the concept of Kang Prime, which is the Earth 616 (our primary earth) Kang. That Kang we saw might have just been the craziest one, but the one we saw in the second stinger is the divergent Kang which has primarily effected our 616 timeline.

As to how this doesn't make any consequences... well that's a bit of a problem, which I'm assuming Loki and Mobius will address.

Thanks for that. That makes sense. It's gotta be hard to write for both comic and casual fans.

TBH, the multiverse part of the MCU takes away some of my enjoyment. As one that follows the movies, but not the comics, I'm a much bigger fan of having a well-written straight-forward villain. I don't mind them eluding to the multiverse, but I get sidetracked if it becomes too much of a plot device. I find myself immediately starting to think about the possibilities and ramifications versus enjoying the movie. I thought it was handled well in Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse. I'm hoping future MCU movies focus on the story and characters.

Just got back myself, and yes, this movie has some flaws. It is a CGI fest, the story lacked in some spots, and it might be a little hard to understand fully what is going on without following the MCU thus far, especially Loki. HOWEVER, I don't care what the critics say, I actually greatly enjoyed this movie, mostly due to one thing..... Kang. Kang is a BEAST in this movie, and Majors puts on yet another ridiculously good performance. The dude is truly terrifying at multiple spots and is already one of the best villains in the MCU. I used the word BEAST because there is no better word, and you will realize why I use that word afterwards.. I also saw this movie in 3D, and really loved seeing it that way. Some of the MCU movies work well in 3D for me like this one and the Dr. Strange movies, and some don't, like Wakanda Forever. If it helps for more of a recent context to take in my opinion or not, I did not like Love and Thunder but really liked Multiverse of Madness. I also loved Ant-Man 1 and was so so on Ant-Man 2. To me, this movie surpasses the second movie but probably trails behind the first. With all that said, take my opinion for what it is worth.

I gotta say, I went in with some low expectations, but I really liked it. Yeah, it was a little goofy at times, but I thought it was FUN. It was just a crazy fun space opera type movie. I'd watch it again. Love and Thunder I did not find fun or all that interesting. Wakanda 4E I thought was awful other than seeing Namor fly around.

Ant 3 was far from serious, but I just liked that the quantum realm gave the artists free reign to do whatever they wanted and they ran with it. It was fun to see.

These poor movies are why I think Disney brought Iger back and is bringing Favreau back into the MCU for reviewing stuff. I'm glad they're reducing the disney plus series and focusing more on the main movie plots again. I just hope that doesn't diminish the quality of the mandoverse stuff.

Disney might as well give Favreau and Filoni a blank check. Those guys are killing it on SW content. It's amazing what creative people who grew up as fans of a franchise can do.

Just to expand a little, I think Kathleen Kennedy would feel like this is a job, but those two guys probably don’t feel that way. They are part of a generation that had SW as a kid and then went 16 years with zero content. Kids back then had to make up their own SW adventures and now Favreau and Filoni are bringing them to life.

I finally watched Thor love and thunder. I want to like it but the forced humor just ruins the movie for me. Mopey, I don’t know what to do with my life Thor, bores me.
I would have been fine with the idea of him not knowing his place anymore after all of the events (a midlife crisis of sorts) but this was done in a non compelling manner. It was just stupid and clunky.

I liked it first viewing I think because I was almost so shocked at the tone of it. Rewatches greatly diminish my appreciation for it.

The fact that it wastes maybe MCU best villian didn’t help it either.

I liked the movie enough to have fun with it but damn this guy breaks down what a lot of folks have a problem with and I agree with it. The writing the last couple of phases just hasn’t been as tight and logical as the first few phases.

Spoilers abound if you haven’t seen it.

I'm normally not a guy who gets all bent out of shape about how they adapt something like a comic, but I went and bought the Jason Aaron Thor run that includes Gor and man that is a fantastic comic. It is kind of a bummer, but you can't do that with the Hemsworth character.
