Obviously, I know the "Kurt Warner story". It appears that this guy is always being overlooked for one reason or another. I happen to think he should be in the HOF but my sense is that this may be another time that he will be overlooked.

I post this because I am curious of two things:

+ What was he like in HS...type of kid, type of athlete? How much of a shot did he get in HS?

+ What was he like at UNI...why was he never given a chance until his final year to play? Did he graduate?

Again, I know the "story"...I am hoping someone on this site knows the "Iowa years" in a little more detail and will share it with me.

Thanks.

Does he deserve it? I tend to think so, but I can see the argument against him. He basically has 5 years missing from the middle of his career, and he's going to have to be spectacular the next several years to get people to forget about that. This last year was a gigantic step for his status. There is one thing going for him, though - according to NBC's postgame, the guy only owns the top 3 passing games in Super Bowl history...

I can't remember who their starting qb was during Fr and Soph years, but he was good. Maybe a 4 year starter?

His junior year, it came down to him and Jay Johnston. The coach picked Johnston and he lead them to an undefeated record and, I think, a #1 ranking. They lost in the late rounds of the playoffs.

Kurt took over his senior year and did very well also.

Some that is a UNI fan, or at least has a better memory than me will have to give more detail.

I worked with him at the Cedar Falls hy-vee night stock crew. At the time didn't even realize he ever played football.

I don't think he's being overlooked ... the guy has HOF conversations about him before he's even retired!

He's in, maybe not first ballot, but he's going to be in the record book in so many places that he has to get in eventually. A year or two more of normal "Warner" stats to boost the overalls and he's locked it up. He's "per-game-played" averages are sick.

Waterloo Courier had several Kurt Warner stories last weekend. You can porobbaly google them in. He was close to starting at UNI, but nit quite close enough.

His coach used him as a tackling dummy so that he could handle the pass rush.

His wife is like a Christian zeolot who has fixed herself up to suit the role.

He sacked groceries at Hy Vee in CF.

Her parents were killed in Arkansas in a tornado???? Not sure

From watching him this year, he has grown into a great leader.

The arena football helped him develop pinpoint passing. He has to be one of the world's best pinpoint passers.

Great guy!

Thanks...I was hoping to get a little more info on the HS and UNI days since we really don't hear much about that when the national press tells his story. I was hoping someone may know something on here from a personal standpoint.
