You are just now seeing this? Connor has always been that guy. Now that his shot his a lot better this year, teams actually have to guard him too. Wish he would have never played baseball and would have concentrated on bball the whole time.

Basically zero impact the first 5 years, maybe a negative impact considering how little some guys like Keegan and Kris played earlier in the careers due to him. This year he's been great. But he's still a guy who has scored 714 points while playing 3,600+ minutes. Seems almost impossible.
You really think playing 1 season of College baseball in 2018/19 set his crappy basketball career back?
I didn't hold this opinion of him until this season. If he was just another guy on a team and not the coaches son all these years he wouldn't have the opportunity to play as a 24 year old. He was not a productive player for most of his career. Iowa just happens to get the benefit of this one year after the cost of the others.
I'm sorry if you couldn't see the intangibles he brought to the team. He provided a ball handler when the team didn't have one, he provided good defense and rebounding to a team that clearly struggles in those areas, he is interchangeable playing multiple positions, he doesn't back down, takes good shots, makes the right pass etc etc.
His shooting really held him back until this year, I will give you that much.
He was with the team for more than that one year. He redshirted but still practiced in 18. Played in 19. COVID cancelled the 20 season but he was still with the team. Was out with a hip injury in 21. This was the first offseason he had to devote to bball.
It takes a lot of work to have bad takes like this all the time.
The shooting thing is enormous. It made him an offensive liability. I mean Lipsey can't shoot either but he can blow past people and finish at the rim. Connor also still has a ton of trouble staying in front of quick guards on the defensive end. We'll see that aspect rear its head again when they play better teams down the stretch. I'm talking about Connors intangible's. He's played a thousand games so almost nothing surprises him. That allows him to make so many of those plays that only require smarts and hustle. There will not be a guy on Iowa's roster that will provide that next year.
I agree with most of this. But Connor is also a steadying presence that doesn't turn the ball over and almost always makes the right play. He will be a huge loss next year.

He 100% would have been asked to move on at any other P6 before reaching year 4, let alone 5,6 etc
Perkins is kind of annoying. Sandfort certainly has potential as a streaky 3 point shooter, too.
They'll still have Patrick another couple years. I imagine he gets shoe horned into the Conner role next year. IDK what that role has ever been for sure. Point forward maybe?
