Toyota Rav-4 hybrid or Honda CR-V hybrid?

Wife and I are looking at crossover/suv types and are looking hybrid. We haven’t looked at these before but are leaning towards one of these two. Who has experience (good or bad) with these two vehicles and what is it? Have you tried similar style/size vehicles and what was your experience there?

Personally I don’t like the look of the newer RAV 4’s. Not too excited about the look of CRV’s either honestly.

No personal experience, but my wife is looking at similar models and everything we have researched so far is that the Toyota hybrid is better from a long term reliability standpoint. (Both are good, but Toyota has been in the game longer and does it a little better) For fun and driving though, Honda seems to be a better mark for the handling and fun to drive aspect. From our limited research, it seems to come down to a test drive and what car suits your needs/likes better. Doesn't seem you can go wrong with either compared to other companies outside of those two.

We love our RAV4. Don't know how it compares to the CR-V but the RAV4 is amazing. Also we upgraded from a pretty basic car so anything was going to be better

I love my 2021 Rav4 Hybrid.

Real world mileage has been right at 40 mpg average.

No mechanical or cosmetic issues so far in 1.5 years and 20k miles.

Mom and sister-in-law have the newer body style RAV4 of which I’ve driven both. They sound loud, feel underpowered, and generally give off the impression you’re driving a vehicle with a lawn mower engine.

Look at the Ford Escape Hybrid. Love mine. Super quiet, rides great and more power than other hybrids I've driven/owned.

I think Ravs have looked better since they got rid of the tire on the back.
Absolutely. But it’s been gone since at least the 2015 model year.

When we were looking at several brands I got that exact impression driving the Nissan. Just felt/sounded very buzzy in the cab. Ended up with the Mazda CX-5.

Have you looked at the RAV4 Prime? The plug-in hybrid system made it much more attractive to me. Legit quick, which isn't something you can say about standard hybrids. The availability was super limited when I was looking, so I went a different direction, but I looked hard.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s driving this?
I’m curious as well. We bought our CRV a couple years ago and at the time we test drove the RAV4 and the CRV. Liked the CRV a lot more. More spacious and better value.

We test drove both today (the rav4 was an older model as they didn’t have any new ones on the lot). Lot of similarities between the two and nothing that really distinguished one over the other.

We have had Toyotas for a while now. The Honda is just cheap. It’s actually my dads car. I got a Corolla just before he got the CRV. I’ve had a single issue where the battery crapped out right before the warranty. My dad has had numerous issues. Just tonight it almost didn’t start. Something is wrong with the startup. Tires already need replaced where mine are still plenty good. Interior wise also doesn’t feel as nice.

The reason he went with the CRV was the power seats were at a lower option. Also power outlets in the back were nice.
