WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Look at this box score. Notre Dame had nearly as many FTs as FGs.

Fennelly's dream game where we shoot 38 free throws and the other team shots only 6. Man, those 50-60 point uber routs like the one you linked are just sad mismatches. :(

Here's the latest poll. I think the ranks for ISU and Iowa are pretty fair. At this point they are both Sweet Sixteenish looking to prove they are Elite Eightish. Cyclones are top ranked Big 12 team while Iowa clocks in at #3 for the Big 10 (Thee Ohio State and Indiana Wants Me are both in Top 4, for now).

Kansas jumped into the Top 25 while Kansas State tumbled to RV/#32. Creighton is up to #16. Co-favorite for the Big 12, Texas, is still down to RV and got only 6. Villanova, next opponent, is now in at #25.

Texas announced today that Aaliyah Moore, who was a pre-season All Big 12 pick has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season. A tough blow to a team that was already struggling a bit.

Boring slate of games today, tomorrow is much better. Our game versus a ranked opponent, obviously, but some other games of note on Sunday. Ha, nothing to watch today and everything in the 2:00 slot for tomorrow!

#2 Stanford hosting struggling Tennessee. 2:00 p.m. ABC
#12 Iowa hosting UNI at 2:00 p.m. BTN+
#5 Notre Dame at #6 Virginia Tech 3:00 p.m. ACCN
#20 Baylor vs #18 Arizona in Dallas 6:30 p.m. ESPN2 Worth a look to see how Baylor looks.

Did watch #1 South Carolina versus the South Dakota State Jackrabbits for a bit Thursday night. South Carolina looked really good on defense and pretty bad on offense. Game was at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls like the "TV Game" our MBB played there a couple of years back versus Colorado. They ended up winning 62-44 but it was a slough.

Livestream of LSU-Montana State. Yes, both teams are wearing white.

edit: Montana State changed unis halfway through the quarter.

Wow that was interesting viewing. Wonder if there were any turnovers do to the all white jerseys on both sides?
Picture for quick reference.

Tuned in Baylor vs Arizona after workout hoping to maybe see a good game. Not a good game. Woof. Baylor looking really bad tonight. Think I'll start calling LSU "New Baylor". Missed the first half but apparently Aijha Blackwell, their star transfer from Mizzu, tried to play but left the game. She's been out with a knee/leg injury.

Earlier UNI gave Iowa a pretty good game but Iowa prevailed.

You saw the New Baylor tonight. I've hinted around in a couple of posts about it. I don't think very many of your read it but I've alluded to it a time or two and based on what you saw tonight, Did I Lie?

Nope, you did not. I for one pay attention to @geewago posts and appreciate your input on all things SW in the Big 12. So, what's the buzz on Blackwell, I missed most of the first half when they likely talked about it.

Observation: Weird to see Bears shooting threes and having announcers talk about that being a a big part of their game.

LSU is routing the Oregon State Beavers in Maui. Angel Reese is double-double (17/10) in the first half. Streaming on YouTube from some little gym. Turning it off at half. Tigers held OSU to 6 points in the 2nd quarter.

Blackwell left the game with knee injury again. No info yet on how serious. May have been brought back too early.

The three bomb is now the main tool at Baylor. It's called the "New Modern High Octane WNBA Offense". It's what Baylor fans were promised when the new coach arrived. The authorities who post down here described the new offense as one that would be faster and much more productive and exciting to watch. It would be one that would be so appealing to 5-star recruits that BU would virtually become the development league for the WNBA. I got so sick of hearing it I all but quit posting down here for a while. I thought such was a pipe dream and I haven't changed my mind at all. Kim didn't believe in the 3-bomb being her main weapon. She pounded it in the paint till it wore the opposition out. Plus played an intense suffocating defense. She had guards that could shoot threes as good as anybody. But they were instructed to take it inside until the inside was clogged with defenders and then shoot when they were wide open which of course opened the paint back up. It worked, much to the chagrin of all the remaining Big 12 teams.

Things are different now. Until another coach arrives in this conference that recruits at the level she did and coaches with the demanding intensity she did I will not be surprised at all to see a different Big 12 champion virtually every year now. Sorta like musical chairs.

Actually thought of that Kim defense a little last night while watching the first half of the LSU game with Angel Reese playing defense, which she didn't do that much at Maryland. She's a superb athlete, like lots of Frese recruits, but they never played much defense at Maryland recently, except situationally. 25 pts and 20 reb last night. Offense first is fun but defense is the deciding factor most of the time when it comes to championships.

Kansas at Nebraska tonight.

Went to OT at 60-60.

OT1 scoring: KU 1 basket. NU 2 free throws.

62-62 after OT1.

Scoring onslaught so far in OT2, now 66-66 with 2:00 left.

70-70 heading to OT3 in Lincoln.

Franklin has all 10 of KU's points in the extra sessions.

-----

Nebraska wins, 85-79, in 3 OT. Was 79-79 with just over 1:00 left.

Kansas undefeated no more.

In that Nebraska vs Kansas game dual sport (volleyball/WBB) star recruit Maggie Mendelson played 17 minutes and had 9 pts and 9 reb. Not a bad 2nd game in college for the 17 year old who jumped a year to be in this class.

#9 LSU is at #24 Arkansas on ESPN2 right now. LSU hasn't played but one P6 team, Oregon State, but look like a #9 so far tonight on the road here. Up 32-18 in 2nd quarter.

#12 Iowa plays Purdue (10-2) in IC at 8 on BTN. You can't pay me to watch the Hawk guys play but I'll tune in for some this game.

Earlier today Michigan State, who we thumped out in Oregon, beat #4 Indiana 83-78.
