49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

If Brady gives them the home town discount on a one or two year deal, they’ll at least listen.

Their window is right now. QB aside it is the best, most complete roster in the league, and it isn’t all that close. If Brady would go there on the cheap, they might do it. Lance has not played all that much football period, so he is a massive unknown. It really would hinge on Brock. If he keeps this up, then you’re right, they probably would prefer to roll with Brock/ Lance and spend cap on their other upcoming FAs. But they could also bring in Brady for a year to push for a SB, let the young guys learn from him, then have Brock and Lance compete for the job. Frankly, as it stands now they are on track to have a cheap deal with Lance when his rookie deal runs out. Then they will still have Brock on the cheap.

I think it’s 90% that they will spend elsewhere and let Brock and Lance compete for a spot. I think Brady is that other 10%.

I think the odds of Brady coming to SF is basically zero.

1. For one, I think he's starting to actually look his age finally.
2. With Purdy and Lance, they have mobile quarterbacks which is clearly something KS values.
3. KS has some ego about his system and I think he loves all the praise he gets for putting these QB's who aren't marquee guys in great spots and see them succeed. I also think he wouldn't do anything to take away from the defense or other offensive positions.

Plus I love Kittle! How could you not? He's having a ball. I'm so tired of guys making this all seem like some super serious thing. This is a game and it's supposed to be fun.

Kittle definitely has it figured out. His game speaks for itself, but his personality drives his endorsements. Dude knows how to market himself, even streaming himself walking up to the TNF crew interview was entertaining. Felt a little bad for Brock having to compete with that energy on his first big national interview. He did fine, but that had to be hard.

last night could be the last time we see brock on national tv until the playoffs.

theyre next 3 games probably won't be broadcast in iowa.

lucky for me, i have redzone channel

Brady on a hometown discount is still much more expensive than Purdy on a rookie contract. Signing Brady or Rodgers is going to disrupt that pristine roster you describe (and you're not wrong about that) by needing to clear some cap space or flipping a few draft picks over somewhere in a sign-and-trade.

Purdy + Current Roster + Draft Picks > incremental benefit of veteran minus roster changes

I think you roll with Brock and (maybe) sign a high-floor but low-ceiling backup who is okay mentoring him and draft 1-2 QBs in the draft in the later rounds for development and as an insurance policy.

Week 16 has Sat games of Niners Commanders at 3 on CBS, and Eagles Cowboys at 3 on Fox. No other games at those times. So maybe we can see that one?

I guess they sometimes will put 2 noon games and 2 afternoon games on towards the end of the season but the 3:05 game time tells me we'll just get Cowboys/Eagles

edit:

looks like it'll just be Fox late with cowboys/eagles.

fwiw- maps comes out on Wednesdays on 506sports.com

and the following week it is up against Jets vs Seahawks so assuming Iowa will opt for the 49ers vs Raiders game. I think we see them both.

No college bball, only one late crappy bowl game on XMas eve, so I'm hoping we get the 2+2 schedule.
