49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

There is a generation of Hawkeye fans just wired different. They absolutely get triggered by any national ISU attention and quickly rush to downplay or diminish even if their Hawkeyes are not involved in any way. It’s quite sad actually.
I don’t know, man. I still think CJ Beathard was quite a bit better than Brock. Dude was such a stud.

If he continues this he has to start next season right?

I had always hoped he would last 3-4 years in the league, make some decent coin - he has blown the doors off everything I thought he could do.
I think the result of his success for these 2.5 games will be that he supplants himself as an extremely desire able backup QB in the league for many years. I mean this as a compliment.

They have too much invested in Lance to not at least have a QB competition going into next season. But at the same time Purdy has looked better the last 3 weeks than Lance ever has in the NFL. TBF Lance never had McCaffrey in the backfield either.

About the only way I would see Brock being named the starter without a competition is if he continues to improve and wins the Super Bowl.
Definitely. At minimum, I think he has earned a roster spot for a few years. If he finds a way to continue this through the playoffs (even with a rough game or two), who knows? He'll be a hot property.

I did not have 'Win 3 games and look very good in all of them while being the talk of the NFL' on my Purdy rookie season Bingo card.
I was hoping he’d get on a practice squad somewhere and I really didn’t think it’d be in SF. But apparently as soon as they got him to the facilities right after the draft, in about a day and a half they knew they had something. And we were all worried about him sticking somewhere for nothing the way it sounds.

I do wish Purdy would target Kittle less. That’s the only complaint about his play so far.

If I could do it all over again, I would go to NFL practice and travel a bunch to different cities for millions of dollars in my 20s.

Each of the two games he starts, Kittle was target Five times, catching four each game. Prior was two out of three. Throw the BS flag.

I said this last night too. CM is a stud but you don’t want to wear him out before the playoffs.
Yep. There’s a reason he got hurt in Carolina so much. You’ve got the division locked up. You likely aren’t catching the Eagles for the 1 seed. Play these last few weeks smart.

Brock needs to continue deflecting all the praise he's receiving to his very talented teammates and coaches, just as he's been doing all along. His humility is crucial to the team's chemistry going forward and a big reason why the players and coaches are so supportive.

Unfortunately no unless he gets traded. Trey Lance is there with a decent contract so I would guess he gets the nod first.

They have a decent shot at the 2 though. And I’m a Vikings fan.
