Also, shortness of breath that was “pneumonia” could have been heart disease angina equivalent. Sometimes a diagnosis is wrong.

The world needed a Mike Leach - Bob Huggins podcast. Seriously though, just awful. Way too young if he goes - a great personality for college football.
Lost my father-in-law to one earlier this year. Happened late at night while my MIL was asleep. If no one is around to get you immediate help, odds are not great.
A coworker of mine had a massive heart attack this summer. He was extremely fortunate that he was actually at the hospital when it happened. The coworker was in his 50s and in good shape.

He’s now in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was airlifted there Sunday. It’s been reported that the Mississippi State football coach suffered “a massive heart attack.” That may or may not be true. His family isn’t even certain of that yet, I’m told. But I do know that Leach has been suffering from heart failure for a while.
Fluid around his heart.

He’s battled pneumonia this season, too. You may have noticed, Leach has had a persistent, hacking cough.
I’m told that Leach didn’t exactly collapse at his home, as some reported. He’s not brain dead, as others have indicated on social media. The football coach was found on the sofa, unresponsive, after what some think was 10-15 minutes. EMTs showed up and did their jobs. Doctors then worked all day Sunday to sedate Leach, stabilize him, and are now beginning to assess his condition.
Does it sound bad?
Very much so. But as one member of his inner circle said: “He’s still with us.”
Sounds like there’s not any hope at this point.

same thing happened with my dad- basically heart attack while asleep. 20 mins without oxygen before they got vitals back.

dont envy what the family has to do/go through.

Yeah, was thinking the ‘next few hours are critical’ statement meant he needed to show levels of brain activity soon or he was gone for all intents and purposes
Lost my dad this way. He was taking out the garbage, my mom went to bed and he never made it back in. Odds are still not in your favor even with immediate help(basically have 4-6 minutes).
I'm sure he is on life support and just a matter of time before they pull the plug. Sad stuff
Really does. I had no idea he has been suffering from heart failure for quite some time now. Sad stuff.
That's basically how my grandfather went. He was walking back to the truck with my cousin after a morning in a deer blind. Cousin was walking a little ahead, said he didn't hear steps behind him for a bit and turned around to find him collapsed. He did CPR till the EMTs arrived, but they weren't able to get his heart restarted.

Yeah, with the way the news sounded last night it sounded like either he would pass pretty quickly or he would survive but never be the same with significant brain damage. Sad as it is to say, he may be at the point where him passing now surrounded by friends and family may be the least bad outcome
