Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

They snapped out of it once Duke stopped caring after the under 4. Fran was fueling his guys for a big comeback. Duke was ready to call it a night after soundly beating the Hawks, but Fran is always so cunning and knows when teams have packed it in for the night. How many blowouts have looked not so bad for Iowa over the years because he keeps his teams full court pressing even after the game is out of hand?
This is so true. Didnt Fran and the boys get upset a few years back when some directional school played hard until the final minute? He walked off refusing to shake the coaches hand. Its ok when Iowa does it though

They recruited the #2, #3, #4, #20 and #27 ranked players and they are all true freshman. I'd say Duke is pretty loaded actually.
Duke could make a great run at the end of the season. Teams like Iowa are built like mid majors. The players basically stick around all 4 years, very little transfer portal. So they start the year pretty decent and know how to play with each other. Teams like Duke, Kentucky, and to some degree, Iowa State, have to learn to play together since they have a lot of new parts. So by the end of the year, Duke will probably be able to make a serious run. Like North Carolina did last year. Average regular season, great run in the tourny when the talent learns to play with each other.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery expressed regret Wednesday after refusing to shake hands with North Dakota's staff and players for what he deemed inappropriate play late in the Hawkeyes' 84-73 win Tuesday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The tipping point was the game's final sequence with Iowa leading by the final margin. UND senior guard Corey Baldwin turned the ball over attempting a pass with five seconds remaining. Iowa's Nicholas Baer held the ball and appeared content to stand and run the rest of the clock out, as players from both teams headed toward their respective benches.

Baldwin stripped the ball from Baer with three seconds left and passed to Drick Bernstine for a layup. The basket didn't count, but the damage was done as McCaffery turned and headed to the locker room, waving his players along as he walked away.

"I wasn't pleased with how the game ended and the things that happened," McCaffery told reporters after the game. "I'll say this, I have a lot of respect for [North Dakota head coach] Brian [Jones] and [assistant] Jeff Horner. I don't think they teach that stuff. But I was not having it. That's not the way to play."
What a baby.

Not sure, first couple of games he was great and he has been terrible ever since. He needs to hit shots if he is going to play meaningful minutes. Have never seen him struggle like this.
He doesn't look comfortable shooting a quick release three. When he has time to really set his feet and shoot a rhythm shot he looks much different. It also seems like he is easily sped up, which isn't ideal against our defense.

Why leave when you can play basketball with your super best friends?

Good luck Cyclones. Some of you'll get your wish if Iowa State wins as i'll quit posting so much. At least until it's safe to troll again

Someone said the spread went from Iowa State minus 6 to Iowa State minus 3. I am shocked we were minus 6 at one point. Someone know something we don't? WTH
So you're correct there but it was Iowa State +6 to Iowa State +3. So we're still underdogs. Ands it's because Kris Murray may not play
