KU Fans

I've seen ISU win twice at KU (2001 and 2005) and ISU fans handled themselves well. Cheered loud, but no "victory laps" or anything bush like that.

In 2005, ISU alsmost choked the game away by missing free throws at the end of regulation and the game went to OT. This middle aged KU fan, and a woman nonetheless, right in front of me turned around at the end of regulation and started mocking me. I didn't have much to say. I figured we were going to lose in OT and just bit my lip.

Of course we all remember Stinson's teardrop shot in OT to seal it for us.

At the end of the game the same woman turns around expecting me to lay into her. I'm sure she felt embarassed for her behavior at the end of regulation. Instead of returning the favor, I just threw both arms up and yelled to no one in general "Way to go Iowa State!" and didn't acknowledge her. She walked away. One of the most satisfying experiences of my life as an ISU fan.

I can't speak for the rest of the Jayhawk nation, but I personally couldn't give one sh*t about ISU, ISU fans and, in fact, until we play you each year I forget that you all are a D-1 school.

Then what are you doing posting here? BTW, if you are forgetting we are a D1 school, then you are either ignorant or stupid. Danny Manning and Larry Brown NEVER won in Hilton. Oh, as for Fizer, I'd say that Brackins more than compensates for that. What ISU is missing is the supporting cast. The real question is where is Tinsley, Horton and Nurse.

I heard that there was a thread bashing KU and it's fans and I came to cyclonefanatic to check it out.

What I found was comments on our "arrogant" behavior. How we have "poor hygiene", among many other eloquent arguments depicting KU and it's fans as classless.

To clarify, I don't give a **** about ISU because I would rather be swept by ISU in Bball if it means we beat Mizzou x2, KSU x2, UT and OU.

LaFrentz, Hinrich, Collison....Barnes too???

"No means no!" = classy and respectful to the guests?

In sports every side has their bad apples. We're more prone to hating other fanbases and teams when they're always beating us. It's the nature of the beast.
 
We're in Section 206 and listen to this type of stuff frequently - it's all part of it. I saw/heard nothing wrong - sure, wasn't fun - but they were just fans. Some of our fans just can't handle losing to a better team.

Only thing I thought was classes was the moron that ran around the balcony. Classless.
 
I would rather listen to KU fans cheer the entire game vs. the two people who sat next to us in Hilton (section 202). They have season tickets. They have been to 1 game (being KU). The guy constantly complained about CB taking shots (as he splashed 42). The guy wanted a foul or traveling every time KU had the ball. He complained how our team really is terrible. Got up and left with 4 minutes to go.

How in the world is it fun being a fan if you act like that?
 
I've seen bad fans from every Big 12 university. Kind of goes with the territory. Sometimes it seems the more you win the worse a fan base gets because you get all those fans that actually didn't even go to the school but want to jump on a winner and talk trash. My friends know that Hilton is a tough place to win and consider it a big step to a good season if you can somehow get out of there with a W. I think the average KU fans respect ISU and Hilton and know that Brown never won there.

amen...or the people one row below me who showed up 7 mins. into the game and left with 6 mins left. They do it every game. Why come?

CF rules state you should not attack members in this manner. We all know this could easily be any one of about 10 or 15 people on this site. :wink:

I was beginning to wonder if he was a certain few posters on this court. I might try getting his CF name out of him. Kinda like Jerry Seinfeld.... Mulva?
 
There was a family of about five or so infront of my seat (section 217) that were cheering for Iowa State. Then all of a sudden they started cheering for Kansas once they got that big lead in the second half. They were wearing gold rules ISU shirts too. Even worse bandwaggoner then jumping from the Lions to the Titans IMO
 
i was disappointed in the three students behind me in CA that wore Kansas shirts, until the CA bosses made them put on their CA shirts. They then proceeded to ignore our fight song the rest of the game. If you want to cheer for KU fine, but get out of CA and wear your colors on the outside
