Attendance???

Also, the color scheme attempt was a dumb idea. Iowa State has shown time after time that they don't get behind those.

Yep if you're going to do the scheme, then have a damn shirt waiting for people in each chair.

Where was everyone yesterday? A sunday afternoon, facing an undefeated team, while we are ranked and the place was maybe 60% full. No students in the upper level and basically zero people followed the striping scheme they emailed out. What the heck is going on?
60% Bro what are you talking about?

It was 93% full --- attendance was 13,377 / 14,356

Also, gold/yellow ISU stuff is really not all that common and most would rather wear/buy red, white, grey, black. I don't blame em.

Noticed at the game they were already advertising a white out for the Texas game in January, I bet that will turn out much better.

Nice thing about Hilton is that even when the balcony is half full, you cannot tell that on TV, because of how dark it is up there. Unlike the morgue over in Iowa City, where you can see empty seats everywhere, because of crappy crowds and where they place the cameras.

I have wished for a long time that ISU would limit the students to the lower 4/5 rows in the balcony and then sell the rest to the general public. I looked to purchase tickets for a few games when they went on sell, only thing that they were offering were in the last couple of rows all the way to the top. I am not going to drive 2.5 hours each way to sit in the nosebleed sections, just watch them on TV.

This thread is a good example of why CyTown will be a good thing all around, but I really think it will add to the Hilton experience.

Our style of play doesn't help either. Next year should alleviate that with the freshman who look like they'll be able to knock down shots on a consistent basis leading to more runs on offense.

You mean the style of ply that every ISU fan has been ******** about us NOT playing? Ya, go shut your mouth poser.

yeah, the shirt idea seems to be the best, and I also think a lot of it comes down to marketing and promotion. It seems like every other school in the nation has it figured out but us. I don't buy the whole, fans don't care excuse. I remember going to gold out games like 10+ years ago and those seem to be successful. Of course, back them you had paper tickets that said "color it gold or color it cardinal"

do schools like Tennessee hand out shirts since they seem to knock it out of the park always.

I applaud Cyclone fans for not participating in these embarrassing AD ploys.

Im guessing that was tickets sold. But not necessarily present through the doors

Cause every single person that bought a ticket was there.

i text a buddy and we both couldnt believe how empty it was, must be a style of play thing, IDK...thought besides the Iowa and Baylor game last year the crowds were pretty disappointing

I appreciate the style of play, these kids ball out every game. The offense is way stronger than last yr. Last yr the casual fan didn't realize we had a good team till late in the season. Anyone that went early realized they were playing hard and we now cheer for great defense in addition to the big play on offense.

I'm sure some will hate this opinion, but the student section in the upper deck should go away. It's full for 2-3 games a year, and if you made those general public seats, they'd still be full for those 2-3 games and would be much more full for the other ~15 home games.

That is a honest assessment but I really enjoyed getting to go to games when I was a student.

Yup. People are gonna wear what they want to wear to games. They likely want to wear what they have worn for the past 20+ years since those clothes are their "lucky" Cyclone BB clothes. Or for me, I wear what now fits....

Those last 5 words I'm right there with you.

I thought the instructions were poorly thought out. The "gold" section was show in red background with gold lettering and visa versa.

Anyone looking quickly might have looked at the background color and ignored the text.

In the future they should have the background as the desired shirt color and have the font in white or black.

I also agree that distributing shirts improves the likelihood of compliance.
This I thought it was one of those freudian tests where you say the color written but they mess you up by making the word in another color. o_O

Barely 20 tickets offered in the lower level for a game 6 days from now. Better be INSANE attendance.

I've looked at going to games many times this year. You either get a $25 seat in the nosebleeds or you to pay face or more for a lower-level seat..

I'd love to attend games, especially if there is abundant tickets. But I'm not paying a premium or face for McNeese State.

I wonder how many of these tickets are companies and not individuals... No accountability of attendance if it's not a warm body entity

Next Sunday at 5 against McNeese St. Trust me that attendance will NOT be insane. It is a double header day though women play at noon.

This is an age old problem; not just for ISU but all programs. You have to put the student section at court level. They can't cheer from the upper deck and create an awesome home court advantage; and donors have to realize that. They have to be OK with paying way more than students but sitting above them; and realizing that's part of their experience. We fill Hilton every game but we can't have courtside seats sitting on their hands. Give them something else that enhances their experience. T-shirts, donor gifts, recognition, concessions, access to pre/post game interviews, whatever; but put the loud, obnoxious student section front and center.
