Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

We need to rename this thread. There is no "tough" day for Iowa hoops, I'm convinced. Look how dismal the B1G mens basketball is. Wisconsin is down, Michigan State down, B1G West as usual is one of the worst in the P6. Two teams that look the best, Purdue and Maryland, they play the Hawkeyes just once, I swear they get that advantage every season. All they have to be is mediocre and they will win at least 20 games and go dancing. Because ESPN will tell us 1,000 times how tough that conference is when it clearly is not. They are all easy days for EIU Hoops, or so it appears IMO.

Without arguing your overall point, the B1G is better at the bottom than last year. Because last year was so, so, so bad.

I did the math at one point last year, and Iowa had 8 of their wins against total drek B1G teams (Pomeroy rank shown):
RutG 77
Mary 83
NW 87
PSU 88
Min 109
Neb 140

Iowa managed 8-2 against this murders row. For reference, Furman, Towson, and Santa Clara were 74-75-76. How does a "Power" conference have SIX TEAMS WORSE THAN FURMAN????

KSU and WV were the bottom of the Big12 at 61 and 66.

This year, the bottom feeders seem to be better, only Minny is worse around 150th. Nebby is at 78. So a lot less hot wet garbage, and I expect more road losses for Franny. They will be lucky to be .500 in conference.

Nebraska just won at Creighton I didn't see it but that's bizarre. I could see .500 or worse this teams not built for shootouts like teams of the past and we don't usually win defensively of course

Creighton shot 40! threes and only made 10. They went 4/27 against Texas the game before. Scheierman is great for them when he's hitting 3s but he's a major liability when he's not. He can go 1/14 and keep shooting. On top of that he is a below average defender that costs them points on the other end of the floor.

It's not all Scheierman, but he's definitely part of the problem for Creighton when he's not hitting. Nebraska played well too. They made a ton of plays at the end of the game and got a lot of stops (mostly from Creighton chucking 3s).

I feel like that exact scenario is kind of what's unfolding with Kentucky and Frederick. In his case he just wasn't getting a lot of shots something he didn't do enough at Iowa either. He's too passive. Cal has really seemed to limited his minutes recently in favor of defense. I wonder if McDermott will make similar decision

Yeah that is a shocking win for Fred.

If I was setting the O/U for Iowa conference wins, 10 would be the number...

If it was his Dad I would have agreed.
Be prepared for Duke getting all the calls on a neutral NYC floor tonight.

Duke and the bluebloods always get the calls vs traditional schools in these tournaments.

Will be getting the popcorn ready for if Fran goes nuts on an official.

Not expecting a W tonight. Just hope we don't get slaughtered. Also hope I can actually stay awake to watch the whole thing. That is a very late start for this old man.
