Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

just spent the day in a meeting and talked with a hok fan. He told me they are getting these game like last night to get ready for their run in the big 10. he said fran has had to build up after the last coach, which has taken time.

That's like when they stick with the 'ISU only gets up for one game a year' narrative from 20+ years ago.

Give Fran credit: he knows how to sell.

What is happening in the second shot?
That's Nigel playing his guitar with a violin while playing a second guitar with his foot. It's primarily poking fun at Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) who would play his guitar with a violin bow. (example below). The best part of that scene is when Nigel briefly stops playing to tune the violin.

Just noticed that Garza has been up with the big boys the past week and a half. Played 57 seconds so far this season...no stats to report yet. o_O

In all honesty I don't understand the sh!t talking about Garza (his dad...feel free). I mean very few people in the world are on NBA rosters and he is. I don't care what his stats say, or don't say, getting on an NBA roster two years in a row is quite an achievement. Is he going to be a great/good NBA player? No, but he is in the bigs which many players never had the opportunity.

EDIT - I do get tired of KXNO personalities polishing Garza's knob however.

It's flat astonishing that he's played 1 second in the NBA.

Kris will be a mid to late first round pick imo. He is old by draft standards though.

Rebraca has to be one of the oldest players in college basketball.

Rebraca is old, but to his credit, looks like he has actually progressed a bit this year. I'll probably wait to see how he does against stiffer competition before passing total judgement, but double figures in scoring and is rebounding better. Still haven't seen his 3 point shot translate from his Summit League days, which is kind of confusing, but he otherwise appears to have improved some.

I just remember watching him last year, thinking he was the smallest 6'9'' dude I had ever seen play the game. He got pushed around a lot and I had counted him as a bust for Fran. Good think he had a covid year to try and redeem himself.

What a ridiculous post..

Phog Allen, Hilton, Breslin, Assembly Hall, Mackey, Rupp, Dean Smith Center are all large arenas seating 14+ thousand fans. Smaller schools have smaller arenas which obviously makes sense. The large schools that have small arenas is usually due to limited fan support, like Texas and Iowa.

Brilliant. Now it’s the size of the arena.
Saw on Twitter Iowa fans ******** about fan attendance and how the ISU game isn't even closed to sold out yet.. One person in the comments said something along the lines of "yup! driving around 2 hours to get to the game" as if that was some asinine thing to do..

I'll be able to do a live report from Carver next week! Bringing my yarn and knitting needles to fit in.

I mean, he's right about needing a new arena. Carver Hawkeye is a poorly designed dump. Not sure why you'd want to make it small. Honestly I can't even understand why Texas went as small as they did. That is a huge university with 50k+undergrad enrollment. If any university is suited to fill a 20k+ arena for basketball, it would be them. Fan support has maybe been an issue, but with a new-ish coach and coming off a fairly successful campaign, I'd like to think fans would start coming to games more. Fan support was poor because Shaka had all but killed the program.

They should have done at least 15-16k.

I just went and looked at their available tickets...there are LOTS of seats left. Guessing a couple thousand.
