*** Official Milwaukee vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I would be shocked fwiw. Not down on the team, but that is a huge ask losing Hunter and Brock.
Last year against similar competition at this time ISU was winning games like this by 5 to 10 points and it was excruciating most of the time, and if Gabe had been out they probably lose. Brock wasn't even Brock yet. Everyone was thinking Gabe was our best player 3 games in. This years team is more talented top to bottom than last years IMO, and I don't think it's that close. We may be a little less talented in the guard court but the front court is light years better.

That’s it? Why are you so down on this team? I think they could make the tourney. Defense is very good and I think the offense will improve as the season goes on.
I think the NIT goal is good. We need to set realistic expectations. We almost missed the tournament last year after going undefeated in non-con. Most teams in Big 12 got better, and unfortunately I don’t think we did this year.

This week will be great one way or another to get a good idea of where they are, for sure.
The earlier games last year were closeish and then when they smothered teams in NY expectations soared, haha. Forgot they got to #9. Rankings really mess with people as CFers started struggling soon after.

Kansas beat Duke, Baylor beat UCLA and Texas beat Gonzaga. Wins aren't going to come cheap.

Everyone sounded like this last year too.

I’ve learned not to lessen the impact that playing great defense can do.

I do wish we had Williams though, he will be missed.

Lipsey has been the most impressive player so far this season imo. He is no worse than where Hunter was this time last year. While he may not have the athleticism he seems to have less dumb turnovers

No one was ever mad when TH took a three. He didn’t shoot a great % but I never questioned him. He’s a gamer-type 3 pt shooter.
He took plenty of bad 3 pt shots. He was hot in few games like LSU but more often he was more like 0-3 or 1-4.

There’s so many people in these threads that think 3pt percentage is the only measure of a players’ worth. They need to just become Hawkeye fans or get over the thought that defense doesn’t matter. They aren’t playing HORSE out there.
