Sorry for the delay in opening a new thread for the season. I just finally am caught up to the current episode as our kids have had something going on nearly every night lately so the DVR is full of content right now.

Initial thoughts/takes:

- My favorite cast members right now are Cody (originally from Iowa) and Gabler. That being said would not shock me if either make it too much farther because their tribes at the moment seem a little annoyed at both.
- My 2 least favorite at the moment are Geo and Karla. Both have a bit of "snotty" personalities at times and aren't shy about admitting they think they are calling the shots. Too early to play that hard IMO, gotta make it to the merge first and with smaller tribe numbers doesn't take much to rub someone the wrong way and get voted out by just 3 people.
- First 2 people voted out did not surprise me but wish Nneka and Lindsay would have hung around more.
- Too early for me to get a read on how this cast stacks up to other seasons but so far has been interesting and the gameplay has been OK. Found it funny that last week that the Vesi tribe went cutthroat against Coco and not only tried to hurt them with the steal an item from camp reward they got but then helped Baka solve the puzzle so they had to finally go to tribal. Coco was butthurt about it but it's a cutthroat game and good strategy as you don't want to go into a tribe mix up or merge with 1 tribe having a significant advantage in numbers.

Interested to hear everyone's thoughts. I just have not gotten too into this season quite yet due to my busy schedule and probably be a day or 2 behind getting to watch the upcoming episodes since we have things going on Wednesday nights right now so I have intentionally not commented on this season yet so I didn't happen to see a spoiler.

Cody is one of those guys that was made for Reality TV. He is really fun to root for in Survivor. Also, Probably would be the guy you can only hang around with a few times before he annoyed the crap out of you in real life. So far the only one they voted out that should not have been was the last girl. She got super paranoid though and thats never good. They should have voted out Geo. Thats just because he annoys me.

Agree with throwing immunities. But I really like Ryan. I just think his story of his struggles as a child and now to see how physical he is on top of being a very nice guy has me rooting for him. Sami is the favorite now. He has all the tools at the age of 19... gtfo
 
Glad to see Geo go. Was already playing a shady game and making the merge would have only made it worse. Still amazed after all these years some people have not learned that you need to play a somewhat low key game and keep your numbers strong before going into a merge. A lot more votes have to go against you once you merge, when your tribe is just 6 or less it doesn't take much for things to put you on the wrong side of a vote quick.

It still is a Cyclone State.

I wish they'd figure out a way to take players to the end without a merge. It's the most predictable thing in the game, it's what players strategize for, it's what players KNOW is coming. They need to figure out a way to surprise players one season by not having a merge. Not saying it would be easy, but it would be a great twist.

Well we had a merge... kinda sorta. I liked the twist where they split the 12 into teams and the first team of 6 to win immunity were safe at the first merged tribal council. Probably kept Gabler off the chopping block. Was OK with Elie going home, she was trying too hard to dictate the votes and already had some trust issues with her old tribe so figured when her name came up there was a good chance she'd be voted out. The one thing I was a big surprised though was I think there were 1 or 2 immunity idols that were only good through this vote so thought maybe someone would make a big move and either use or give theirs to someone they wanted to save. I know Gabler had 1 of those and I thought someone else did too. There are a few hidden advantages scattered right now that I have lost track of who has what and if they have a time limit.
 
Yeah, I liked that they changed up the way they did the merge. With the whole group voting whether they were in the winning group or not. Anything creative like that to keep them guessing (and viewers tuning in to see the variety and how the player deal with it) is a plus. After 42 games it's nice that they can find something to change up without ruining the game.

I still like Cody the best, but wonder how he's going to do going forward as I think his game is a bit too above average to not get a group of 'lesser' players to decide he'd win if he got to the final vote.

How can you not love Gabler after this week? Gutty immunity challenge and dug in by "dedicating" each minute at the end to someone that meant something to him or he respects. Unfortunately, that probably now puts a bit of a target on him as a physical threat now but could tell it maybe earned him some more respect that he didn't have before from the others.

OK with Dwight going home but they probably should have stuck with their original choice of James, especially after they moved their advantages around so he couldn't take an idol. Was worried we were not headed down another "woke moment" as all 3 guys getting votes just happened to be black and it wasn't but a couple seasons ago someone made an issue out of it but hopefully this cast can keep this on track and not send the gameplay into the gutter. There were legit reasons to vote any of the 3 out and its the 2nd vote in a row that Jeanine was left in the dark on so have to think either she is about to stir something up or be voted out soon. Noelle's name keeps coming up in some of the vote talks too as she's been getting a little aggressive trying to steer the votes lately.

Bad few days for Jeanine. Doesn't play idol for her main ally in Ellie then because of knowledge is power gave her idol bracelet to Dwight who got voted out his week and her bracelet leaves with him.
 
OK with the last 3 votes but I don't get why Noelle wasted her steal a vote advantage and took Owen's vote while the all were voting for James anyways. I guess it was to make sure Karla voted with them?

Cody and Gabler are still my 2 favorites in this cast right now. Strategically been a well played game so far I think. Other than Noelle and Cassidy everyone remaining has been making strong calculated moves to build up resumes I think so could be a wild finish.

She stole owen’s to make james feel comfortable and not have/let him play his ‘advantage’ … so that if she stole his vote, he couldnt turn around and play his to steal it right back. I thought the same thing, originally.

Since last post we have seen Ryan, Noelle, and Sami voted out. Sami basically got caught in a web of lies this week, out of this cast I would not be surprised if he comes back on another season as he is just 19 and fairly likable. I think he just got too tangled up in trying to out-maneuver people that he got caught and was in a corner that had no escape route. That immunity challenge was impressive with Owen and Karla outlasting the tide where they had to call the challenge after nearly 3 hours when the tide surge went down.

Still rooting for Cody and Gabler. I think they will need to make sure they don't slip up and fall to a blindside as I think Karla, Jesse, and Owen could easily target one of them next and convince Cassidy to vote with them as she really has no moves right now either. Overall this cast has played pretty smart with their strategy and votes I think.

I’m all in on Cody and think he has played the best game. Also, James a grown adult should take lessons from the 19 year old on how to take a loss when getting voted out. I don’t think people understand how bad they look when they take the bitter approach when getting voted out

We were talking about that the other night. Basically Geo was the only one I rooted against. Jeff has gone back to hosting for the most part instead of being woke Probst which is good. So far good season and some interesting characters

Crazy that's it's finale night and this is only 1 page long. Really rooted for Cody but Jesse made a brilliant move. Had Jesse made final 3 I think he would of run away with it. Not sure I would have called this final 3. Will be interesting to see who wins.
