Cy-Hawk extended through 2027

Ask JP or Gary Barta what different non-conference game will bring in more revenue and media attention to the programs than the CyHawk; there's your answer on when it will end.
Outside of the rare college gameday visits we got, which was a nice showcase, what other media attention does it bring?

usually it's just the local media traveling around in an RV for the whole week leading up to the game.

I don't care if we play Iowa anymore. There are compelling arguments for and against it. What I do know is neither school is above playing the game. We're two schools in major conferences that are located in a low population state. We have a lot more in common than most fans from either side is willing to admit.

I'm old enough (unfortunately) to remember when we didn't play Iowa.

Not playing Iowa is much much much worse than playing Iowa.
Maybe back then, but I don't forsee it being worse in todays college football environment.

A big reason for me personally to space it out more, is that I like going to away games and seeing other venues.
Cincinnati, ucf, byu, and Houston should keep you busy for a few years.
I doubt Iowa St would schedule much better than those teams in the non con anyway.

Lol - which one of those teams are coming to Ames Iowa?
Fine. Go down to a second tier of P5 and still better than a field position "slugfest" against the Ferentzes These two teams and coaches know each other too well and play the same exact way against each other. It's not fun.

I would rather play Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Purdue, etc if the requirement is to keep it close to home. So many more interesting games out there. Every year is Scrub #1, Iowa, Scrub #2 (or UNI - another barn burner), then Big12 conference. The only times we get to play a non-Iowa, non-B12 P5 team is in a bowl game.

I'll most likely go to those (minus Houston). Went for the bowl game and the city is just so massive and not really "college vibes."
Excited about Cincy because that's an easy day drive and can couple it with other stuff to do in that region.

The "we're too cool for this/Iowa is boring/what do we get out of this" crowd can get bent.

College sports, especially football, is about rivalries built over generations. So many great ones are gone now, so the ones we still have need to be protected at all costs.

Extend this game to 2100.

Tell me how and when I need to get bent. I understand the game isn't going anywhere and I'm not going to stamp my feet about it. But I hate the game and don't look forward to it at all and that's perfectly okay.

Best solution would for the Big 12 to go to 8 conference games....keep Iowa as an annual rival, and add in one more P5 to our non con. But I think the Big 12 will stick to 9 games because of money

I feel like if we did drop the series, it would be a "I wish there was a way you could know you were in the good ole' days before you actually left them" moment.
