The Canadian National Team has won their first two pool games against Serbia and FraTeam.

Bridget has scored 6 and 5 points but has played more minutes than any other player on the team at about 34 minutes a game. She seems to be the glue that stabilizes the team.

Games are in Australia so time for those of us in Iowa are not great - like 3:00 in the morning! But they are broadcast live on ESPN+

Canada lost their first game in pool play 75-72 to Australia. As I understand, Bridget had 15 but was held scoreless in the fourth quarter when Australia outscored Canada by nine.

Canada, Australia, and France are now all 3-1 in pool play.

I saw the 4th Quarter - BC did not play well! Having said that, the Aussies played like thugs and were allowed to do so at home. Raucous crowd and even the announcers were openly rooting for Australia! I’m always surprised at how physical international women’s basketball is…

Canada vs Mali started at 1:00am. Half time. Canada up 53 -28. Carleton played well in first half 4 of 5 from three and 14 points. But! And a big but...she jambed a finger on her shooting hang with about 3 minutes left in the half. She left the court at half with an icebag on her hand.

Canada defeated Puerto Rico 79-60 in a quarterfinal game. Bridget had 15 points as they had 5 players in double figures between 11 and 17 points.

Today at a time yet to be announced, Canada meet USA in the semi-finals.
Doesn't her Lynx coach, Cheryl Reeve coach the US team? That will be weird...

Just saw that the USA - Canada women's game starts at 2:00am for the night owls or those who wake up first a bathroom call about that time. The games are streaming live on Hulu and probably elsewhere I assume.

In this tournament, Bridget shot poorly in the first game but has hit over 50 percent of her shots from deep since then. Hope Bridget and the Canadian team can give the USA a little competition but no one else has yet.

USA crushed Canada 83-43 in their semi final game. Bridget had only 6 points but made her only shot that i saw in the second half.

She came out with about three minutes left in the 3rd quarter and did not go back in. Coach seeing the writing on the wall and saving her legs for the game for 3rd place.

Team USA is very good! Obvious statement...

There is no shame losing to us. We are really unstoppable! Hope Bridget can get the bronze medal - Australia beat them 75-72 in the group game.
It should be doable as the Australians probably will still be shell shocked after losing to China in the other semifinal.

13 responses in 7 days and 10 of the 13 are from 2 people. Can you not jumble up the boards with stuff people do not care about?
For you and anyone else interested, Carleton and her Canadian team are playing in the 3rd-place game vs Australia at 10PM central time tonight. Looks like the game is on ESPN+.
