I don't hate RV Village, but it did feel like I was at a KoA Campground. It will grow on me, but I miss talking with the random walk bys and exchanging food for beverages. It was different, but I am sure over time I will like it just fine.

I never once said we were "super duper impotant" but there are many people that come to our tailgate who weren't Cyclone fans before, who didn't have season tickets, etc. I guess I don't feel it to be asking to much to move the dumpster.
Are they placed in a position so the trucks can access them easily to dump them? You can't expect a dump truck to come in and weave around campers if they need to get dumped. I don't know and am just asking.
We had plenty of random walk bys-more like walk throughs-who tried to squeeze between/under our neighbor's slide and our tailgate tent, often tripping over and pulling out the stakes for the tent. The camper etiquette of not walking through a site was obliterated. I know, I know, "GET OFF MY LAWN"...
One thing I wish the planners had done was to paint a line indicating where the 1/2 point is on the slab to make it easier to know where the rear boundary is. I could have used an extra foot or 2 so I could put up my tailgate after unhooking my 5th wheel.
We talked with our "pad mate" about this topic. They didnt show up with their RV for the SEMO game so talked them about how much room they needed/wanted etc. We need every inch of our 55ft but is nice to have a little extra to unhook, move the truck, etc. We measured ours out and put some stakes in the ground to mark it but our neighbor is really nice and said their RV is a little smaller and going over the "line" a little is fine with her.
Just as this new village is set up more like a camp ground, I recommend everyone treats it that way and get to know your neighbors. Makes things WAY more fun and WAY less stressful.
We just counted the expansion cuts in the concrete to determine our space.
Yeah, we were already having food and drinks with our new neighbors Friday night.
Has anyone heard if there will actually be the ability to drive other vehicles in to drop off food/coolers/gear on Friday? I heard Jamie was talking about some changes but hadn't heard anything official yet.
Per an email we got yesterday…
A loading zone will be established within parking lot G10 to help facilitate dropping off supplies, coolers, food, etc. for your RV. This will be a 10 minute loading zone available on Friday only before all home games. Cars will need to be efficient in unloading anything you need to and then moved to lot G6 if the car is remaining in the area. Please be considerate of the 10 minute limit so that we can continue offering this option going forward. Cars will not be permitted to remain in lot G10. We strongly suggest you load supplies onto your RV offsite from the Jack Trice Stadium parking lots if at all possible. Golf cart trolley service will continue to be offered upon request.
Well that is small progress, but certainly less than helpful. Just issue printed passes and check for them when you close down loading on Friday. It's not that hard. They are just making things harder for themselves and those that use the RV Village than they have to.
I have never seen them in the lots during tailgating in the 15+ years that I have been tailgating and I have been in Vet Med, G7, D2 and RV Village. It seems they avoid the lot during the games and clean everything Sunday morning.
Agree. Although I have never had an RV there and didn't know the rules with the village. When can the RVs arrive and when do they have to leave? Was thinking if they didn't have to leave until midnight Sunday. There could be a couple campers tucked around the dumpster making it hard to get to was what I was thinking.
Since we usually have different groups that come to ours, we typically try to meet them somewhere to get their stuff and then leave their vehicle since some of them stay in our RVs. I do agree though, it does make things hard if someone is just coming to tailgate the next day but we will find a way around it.
All good questions. They allow RVs to pull in Friday morning at 8am and I believe they say they have to be out of there by like noon on Sunday. Honestly, we typically leave around 9ish on Sunday and most campers are out of there. Heck some leave on Saturday after the game.
EDIT: And your comment on the RVs tucked around the trash cans. If they set them up around the maintenance building or at along the fence line or at the beginning of the RV park this wouldn't be an issue even if RVs were there until Monday. Either way, we understand they are just trying to figure this out. Ultimately every campground that I have been to usually only keeps their dumpsters near the dump stations or at the exit of the park. That probably is the most ideal location cause them people throw it away on their way out.
We have quite a few groups coming from as near as Ames to as far away as Minneapolis and (occasionally) Atlanta or Florida. Since I come down from the Twin Cities for every game I generally don't get down to drop off my stuff until well after dark Friday night and usually head right for the bus that is already in the lot. We have been dropping off at the bus for more than a decade and often have a beer or two at the bus but we never attempt to leave an extra vehicle in the lot overnight.
Making it difficult to drop off may actually accentuate the perceived problem in managing the lot since I have heard of some RVers with toy haulers comtemplating loading up their golf cart or ATV to facilitate helping out their mates who will be dropping off. They had no interest in bringing an auxilary vehicle before seeing all of these restrictions on dropping off. Yes, I know that it is stated as against the rules, but there you are.
Yeah we have 1 tailgate a year where our college friends come back from all over the US and they have typically dropped off their stuff at our site Friday night so they don't have to drag it in Saturday morning. Hopefully there is a solution.
Re: Golf Cart/ATV - I do have a toy hauler and honestly thought about bringing a golf cart or something ha ha. It was more to run back and forth from friends sites, but I wouldn't be opposed to helping people out if they are in a crunch and need to get stuff back and forth.
